Re: Tim Sherwood -Your Manager! 18 month contract confirmed!

I seem to remember Sherwood hitting a winner for us against the goons from a free kick. Does anybody still have a vid of this? Can't see anything on youtube.

I was there, iversen scored too…the lad knew how to celebrate let me tell you (i mean after matches!)…lundberg sent off too. lost in kaiserslautern mid-week before, that was a massive night out too…anyone else go to these two games?

I went to Arsenal, I don't remember it that well though apart from it being freezing.

A great day out and yes, brass monkeys…oh how I laughed when Lundjberg got his marching papers. Electric atmosphere, as it was for derbies for years...

Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

AVB did a PowerPoint presentation that impressed Levy. The one the infamous "he's either a genius or a fraud" line was spoken about. AVB having agreed to work with young players with potential then demanded Hulk Moutinho and Anderson in his first transfer meeting.

would that be the same meeting Levy demanded CL football the next season?

Problem with Levy is he clearly can't tell the difference between a genius and a fraud. He's had a few attempts now, too.

His initials are the same as for Tough ****.. I think that phrase is apt in many ways for this situation... Fans just have to deal and get on... Timmy seems like a no nonsense, take no guff 'lad'..

Scary interesting times

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

I am genuinely amazed by the hostility towards Sherwood.

I'm also amazed at the way people are assuming a 44 year old in 2013 thinks about football the same way Dave Bassett did in 1985. Why on earth should that be the assumption? Surely more likely that being young Sherwood is fully up-to-date in his study of the modern game. The teaching/technology/study of football is light years ahead of where it was 20 years ago.

Jonathan Wilson makes a snide comment about Sherwood's badges in his article above. In fact, Sherwood has all his badges except for the Pro Licence, which the likes of Sam Allardyce and Tony Pulis hold. That's hardly proof that Pro Licencees are at the revolutionary end of football coaching. Sherwood's had a job coaching at pro level for 5 years plus, under several senior coaches and managers, so he's exposed to the cutting edge of tactics all the time. That experience far exceeds anything he'd learn on a Pro Licence course.

Sherwood's the same age as Pep and Klopp, younger than Loew or Bielsa, all of whom are lauded for their forward thinking. And yet we're to imagine Sherwood meets these guys at UEFA conferences and embarrasses himself talking like Jack Charlton circa 1986? Come on.

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

Great article again by Wilson. Absolutely spot on. It is absolutely a baffling choice at this stage of our development.

I think those saying Sherwood will be a success is basing it on blind optimism.

I think the fundamental difference between what City have been doing and us is that they play with Fernandinho and Toure in CM. We have been partnering Dembele aptitude Eriksen and Siggy. I'd say play Sandro and Dembele in the middle and we'll have a lot better balance

I think those saying Sherwood will be a failure are basing it on blind pessimism.
You cannot say anything at this stage with any degree of certainty.

I'm not sure what your bolded bit means, but are you referring to Sherwood's use of 4-4-2 in the two games he has had?
If so, let's wait till he creates a few more squads and can settle on his preferred central duo from all personnel.

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

:) there could have been a number of reasons for kingdawson saying that and he could have changed his mind since, but on the face of it, after the rant against gutterboy, that's pretty funny.

How? Jordinho deciding to quote my post had absolutely no relation to the comment i made about GB.

i've said about 10 times i dislike Sherwood, that i feel he uses underhand tactics, that i feel he has a slimy character....what's that got to do with someone saying they would rather we lose games?

Good points, well put.

Ok, it's not funny at all, there's no irony in you slating GB for hating Sherwood then a post of yours is quoted saying (paraphrasing) "you'd rather endure a hundred games (or years was it?) of AVB than have that **** in charge of spurs"

It's just a bit of fun mate don't take yourself so seriously!

but i didn't slate GB for hating Sherwood...that's the point you're missing. I slated him for wanting his team to lose football matches just to prove his point.

I'm not taking myself seriously and if i contradicted myself i would be first to say so.

Then no offense, you are a little naïve.

Levy/Board/Club must expect appointing a manager with absolutely no experience would create a fair amount of negative reaction.

It feels like a lack of ambition and a bit of the club having fired AVB, then having no clue where to go next.

What's done is done, but no one can/should expect Sherwood is going to get anything like unanimous support from the fans.

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

He writes a lot of pseudo-intellectual t0ss, can't stand him. No doubt, that will make a few posters here burst into tears and furiously bang away at the keyboard -- they can also f**k off.

Worse still, he gets paid for writing pseudo intellectual t0ss.

This.

He's here now, so all the people crying need to dry their eyes and get used to it, instead of making assumptions in order to try to justify their negative bias.

So you can only show ambition by bringing in a big or experienced name? Laughable.

AVB was a charlatan who was adept at presentations, reading the thesaurus and talking about the game. He had proven absolutely nothing in the English game yet got two of the biggest jobs in world football - yes we are one of the top jobs in world football.

I think it's obvious why people think this.
