The transfer thread

Even getting a good/useful body on loan would be good, especially in the attacking areas

Yeah, loans can be different but they're not cheap. It's like renting instead of buying a house. The loan fees, signing on fees and salaries can be crazy. It sounds the safe option, but isn't always.

Well, well, well.....let's see how much 'pulling power' the board are prepared to exert.
I mean, we are more attractive than Man Utd give their brickshow, right? Right??

More attractive? Gonna pass on that for now.

Dorgu signed a new contract so Utd will pay top dollar for him. I think we were only interested before he signed that contract in October. The time to get him was last summer.

That's why Brighton and Bournemouth never sign anyone.
It's such a shame. They just cannot attract any talent.
No wonder Spurs can't attract players either :(
Both of those clubs have significantly and continually invested in their recruitment departments, we've had various periods where we've done things massively on the cheap.

A LB doesn't seem a priority at all. Udoggie, Davies, Spence, Regulion all decent LBs.

Far more vital is midfield imo. Getting Bentancur back would be massive. But we are lacking quality in the middle. Another attacker would be welcome too.

Have to say I don't understand the delay with bringing in a left back, which would be a priority for me, so we can play Djed on the right. Find the best left back in the Championship and pay whatever you need to - it goes against levy's principles but unless we get out of this cycle of losing, we will be in danger of being right in a relegation scrap. This season is a write-off but as Man U have found out, just changing the manager isn't a recipe for instant success. The team need the morale boost from having some new faces, in order to survive this season. Then replace the manager in the summer.
I'm not sure there is really a plethora of talent at left back in the championship.

The best left back is probably Harrison Burrows at Sheffield United. I think he'd do a decent job in the premier league at present.

The most promising for a longer term view is probably Lucas Pires at Burnley. However, he is still incredibly raw and IMO at least 18 months' away from being ready for PL football.

In which case we're missing a trick. Udogie injured, Davies just back from injury and really a centre back in our system now, Spence you can see is severely limited due to being right footed (and I think we need him on the right hand side at the moment) and Regulion simply not good enough as he has proven for several years at Spurs.

Chilwell is available on loan and would be a really good player to bring in for 6 months IMO. Though I suppose it might put our wages at 45% of turnover KPI/OKR at risk.

It is just not a priority. Davies is fine covering LB, he played there most of his career. Spence has been doing extremely well there - one of our best players! We're not even using Regulion! And Udogie to come back from injury. It is one position, not like midfield where there are two births to fill. Why would we sign someone else at LB! Makes no sense.

We need a left back
Big I’d prefer one who can play CB too
That’s where money could be spent
Chillwell just isn’t very good imo
