The transfer thread

You can have 25 association trained players in your squad. As long as at least 4 of them are club trained.

31.04
No club may have more than 25 players on List A during the season. As a minimum, eight places are reserved exclusively for "locally trained players" and no club may have more than four "association-trained players" listed in these eight places on List A. List A must specify the players who qualify as being "locally trained", as well as whether they are "club-trained" or "association-trained".

Perhaps I'm not understanding it correctly, but I assumed it was max 4 association trained and as many club trained as you want.

Did I get it wrong?

They could have just said at least 4 have to be club trained.

It's a pool of eight locally trained players.
The twenty five must include eight locally trained players. Of that pool of eight, a maximum of four can be association trained. (The remaining four must be club trained, or blank)

Effectively you can have a maximum of twenty one association only trained players.
(And of course four club trained, which are, by definition, also association trained)

It's is a poorly written document.
I really hate poorly written documents.

See @monkeybarry answer above.

Apart from Kinsky actually signing earlier today, then not really. Dragu's agent is being a dingdong, as usual, and wants Real Madrid to buy him.

I don't know if I'm in the majority or the minority but I'm fine with cashing in on Dragusin and getting someone else better suited to the way Ange plays in the summer. Seems like a decent bloke but he's not the quickest and not the greatest passer.

Although my youngest loves Dragusin simply because he once saw him solve a Rubiks cube pretty quickly lol!

Haha, yeah, I saw that too. I quite like him, and he's still young, but the way we play, I think we could probably get someone quicker in. I wouldn't be devastated if we sold him, but if we did, he'd sure need replacing.

Correct, that means that you have to put association trained into the pool of 17 A-listers. You still only get between 21 and 25, unless you're running with <4 association trained.

So the following for me:

Club trained: Austin, Whiteman
Association trained: Madds, Johnson, Solanke, Spence
B-List (realistic): Gunter, Dorrington, Ajayi, Black, Cassanova, King, Lankshear, Moore, Olusesi

A-List (17 from 21)
Venom, Kinski, Forster, Porro, Udogie, Reggie, VDV, Romero, Dragusin, Davies, Gray, Biss, Bents, Bergval, Sarr, Kulu, Werner, Sonny, Richi, Odobert, Yang.

I have prioritised Spence, so I have to lose 4 others.

My 4 would be Odobert, Forster, Yang and Reggie. 2 departure lounge and 2 injured.

Of course, when we sign our next player tomorrow morning then it is all changes again. Ditto, when we get a couple of late January long term injuries, then it simplifies again.

This guy is supposedly lightning quick. Would probably be a good addition.
he is quick but he's also prone to diving in. He's a bit more of a Romero than a Ledley King. Might find he spends a fair bit of time suspended until he works out how to handle our refs.

He's exactly like Doku. Doku looked amazing in France. Absolutely useless on higher level. This guy is like a carbon copy. Busy, but will be totally ineffective in the premier league.
Never seen him. If the part that says "Extremely creative passer, left foot is a wand and has a very good eye for a pass" it's accurate then he's not like Doku. But you've probably actually seen him play...

Thanks for putting that together.

Perhaps depends on when we think Odobert will return, but unless he has a setback I would include him over Werner all day.

Assuming we want to do more business it will be even more interesting to see what we do.

Hoping for anther fairly quick deal. Either left back or attacking player.

Yeah, I think we both would in an ideal world.

The problem with my squad composition is that I'm already taking a risk on Richi. Taking a second risk on Odobert is perhaps a risk too far, especially when we'll need bodies for the league and cups.

I could still go either way on that call. Have a feeling, a new signing is going to play into this conversation as well.

Assuming Kinsky will get his chances to play fairly quickly it will be interesting to see to what extent a keeper that's really good with his feet can compensate for Dragusin's weaknesses there.

If you're in the minority so am I BTW.

For the league it's less of an issue as we have room in the PL squad.

I rate Odobert higher than most I think. And I also think he's a profile we desperately miss. I think he'll be "like a new signing" at some point. Even if it's a risk I think it would be well worth it.

What's interesting about both these conversations is the European experience. Kinsky comes in having played every game in EL this season. For him to come to Spurs and not get a UEFA slot isn't on his agenda.

I can also imagine that Werner could come alive in EL. That is where he has made his name in the past.

Some tough calls for Ange to make.

We won’t even see him really start his career here until next season IMO
The loss time hasn’t helped him and the other turmoil makes any new players return tougher
