The transfer thread

There are some incredible players who have contracts expiring this summer. Even if we ignore the likes of De Bruyne, Salah, Alfonso Davies and Alexander Arnold that we'd never have a hope in hell of attracting there are also the following:

Leroy Sane (would be brilliant for us)
Joshua Kimmich (ditto)
Jonathan Tah (ditto)
Tyrick Mitchell (considering we have only Udogie in the squad for left back)

Unfortunately though I can't see us getting close on the wage offers. The top three in the list above could even turn us into title contenders IMO.
You you Need CL for some of those players

We will see
For them to be interested he need a big uptake on his numbers
I dont think top Clubs look at numbers, I think them look at how they play… Ive seen about 10 games with nusa this year, national and Club.. when RB used him on the right he was not good but on the left he can beat any player. And he bring with him having fun in playing

I think that’s a bit of national pride in a player you rate
We will see what happens for his next step I guess

I'm going to put my tin hat on before I ask this question (again).

Thoughts on Harry Maguire coming in on a second half season loan prior to him becoming a free agent in the summer? He's a captain and leader of changing rooms. A model pro and a specialist centre half who has many t-shirts over a long career.

I'm in no way advocating for him to sign permanently, but could he help us navigate through the cups and EL and help keep VDV's hamstring from popping again?

If not Maguire, who would be a great short term loan option for our club.

I thought he was quality at hull and decent at Sheffield before hand
Should have signed him before Leicester
He can play and he used to be able to run too

Don't hate the idea if we are not forced to sign him.

If we have high hopes for Phillips and the Croatian kid then signing younger players will just get in there way, let alone Byfield (3 seasons away at earliest for him)

Think Phillips would benefit from a premium loan next season and the Croat a championship loan.

So a couple of 30 year old on two year deals would not harm us.

That's a really nice goal by Olise, but looks like it was the last seconds and the other team were already hammered and gave up.
I do like a proper dribble like that, pretend to go one way, go the other, pretend to shoot, sit the man down. That is football.

He's looked a lot better in a better side, really good pickup by Bayern

He's a good CB, but struggles when playing in a high defensive line, so not really suited for us I'd say. Perhaps as a back up, but I think there are better options out there, especially considering his salary.

I was trying to think what other options are available though. Which other decent centre half has fallen from grace and is sitting there in that position? Utd even did it themselves with Johnny Evans. David Alaba covers LB and LCB and is out of the RM side nowadays. Kimpembe is apparently fit again. Skriniar is scratching around at PSG for game time as well.

I'm all for continuing the youngsters path, but if we do have a defensive crisis then using the loan system for 5 months also makes sense to me.

Challenge for me is I think we could do with a senior player or two added, not sure it's at CB

You would have to find the magical unicorn of an older CB that still has pace, a slow CB is going to die in our system (see Dier)
