The transfer thread

One in, one out. Some tough decisions as Steff has talked about before. We don't have many "dead wood" players as you say (and that's a good thing), so perhaps sell someone that's good, but not quite good enough.

Won't be easy, but it's a potential solution that the club should consider.
I dont really get how we could address it in the short term though. To boost our numbers, not look for marginal gains with like-for-likes.

Sell Bissouma, replace him with Skipp or Winks, to allow us to bring in say a non-CT RW? That's the sort of options we have, until our current homegrown crop get a bit older

It really isn't that bad. Next season Josh Keeley is 21 and becomes club trained. Alfie Devine turns 21 in March, whilst Dane Scarlett turns 21 in August. Even if a couple still qualify as U21's, they will still add a lot of depth without changing any of the quotas. Ditto with Ashley Phillips who would have completed 2 years at the club and is therefore able to be added to the B-list. Just like Max Robson, 22, was able to be added as a club trained this season. Another one is Matthew Craig who is now 21 and can be added next season. Then we have Lankshear, Donley, Abbott, Veliz etc who will be free B-listers next season as well. Some will make it, some won't.

The question becomes whether fans believe that giving Ange the chance to use this mini-squad next season for nothing is enough. If he so chooses he could have a massive UEFA squad. It is for me. It is our stated strategy to nurture the best U21s into the first team. We're not getting CL so the best we can hope for is EL/ECL and we have a great composition of younger players maturing for those competitions.

The short term should be about loans. I could actually see a player like Harry Maguire being on that list. 31 years old and out of contract in the summer. Would Spurs have him for a few months leading the FA Cup, Carabao and EL charge and plugging a hole? I reckon they would.

Both play on the right and huge issue is on the left at moment
Great players though

Crazy really. We’ve got 4 that (can) play on the left and still need more 😂 (5 if you include Richy)

I rate Bowen highly and he can play right or up top. Would be an upgrade on Johnson and back to an inverted style. Not so much Mbuemo personally.

Can’t see us adding there though tbh.

Mbuemo is just as good as Solanke. Not much between those two.

Mbuemo is brilliant
Younger than people realise too
Wissa is quality too
Always rates bowen. Looked a top player at Hull

There are some incredible players who have contracts expiring this summer. Even if we ignore the likes of De Bruyne, Salah, Alfonso Davies and Alexander Arnold that we'd never have a hope in hell of attracting there are also the following:

Leroy Sane (would be brilliant for us)
Joshua Kimmich (ditto)
Jonathan Tah (ditto)
Tyrick Mitchell (considering we have only Udogie in the squad for left back)

Unfortunately though I can't see us getting close on the wage offers. The top three in the list above could even turn us into title contenders IMO.

EL is our route to CL this season though. We're favourites and there's no drop-out this year
So what?.... If we add players to the PL squad then the players that we have in our Europa League squad can remain fresher as they won't have to play both Thursday and Sunday.

I don't think we can really be making any signings specifically considering the Europa League unless they are going to be very cheap (such as KWP who could cover both right and left back positions)

In around 18 months time we'll be stacked for players for our Europa League squad anyway.

Ok, Im not giving up! Please Spurs!!! take a look at RB Leipzig- Aston Villa.. Nusa is worth it! Pay 60mill for him… just forget what you did wrong the last time! Just get him!

Too young -> Gray, Bergvall, Udogie, Sarr, Moore, Yang, Vuskovich, Dragusin, we already have too many learning their game with us regardless of how good Nusa is or isn't

That's why you see the suggestions above on Bowen, Mbeumo, Wissa, etc, players with at least a few seasons of PL proven output under their belt.

Still way better than any of those.. just see the game
