The transfer thread

Forgot about cherki. That takes us to around £175m in January. Just can't see it happening.

Why would we need 6 new attackers when we have Richie who is the best Brazilian out there and Solanke who will lead England to glory once he's back fit.

We have to sign someone in the next day to get them registered for this weekend. Cut off at midday tomorrow I believe. So let’s hope we see at least one new arrival today.

Part of me is shocked they are not going to take a fee for Watkins at 29 to Arsenal for near on the same money and keep a young player who is clearly supremely talented.

Optics would look far less GHod for them tbf as they'd be strengthening what they might believe is a rival and selling off an English starting striker to boot.
I also suspect Duran is quite overrrated and know it's better to sell him whilst people don't notice.

Watkins is an Arsenal fan though and maybe they might have to sell in the summer instead

Someone who I know who watches alot of football out there, so I trust their judgement said fans would love him, managers not so much. Does his own thing apparently, he said "Adel Taarabt MK2"
Yeah
Although you need that sometimes but managers now are so system tied it limits his potential
I could see him as a curveball at somewhere like Liverpool

That fee is higher than we have paid for Solanke
Hell of a lot of money for a guy who doesn’t start games at Villa
He's scored the same number of goals in those fewer starts. If we were trying to buy him off Villa right now he's gonna cost us at least the 77m they are selling him for so I don't think the fee is outrageous considering his quality and all of the hype that goes along with him and plays a big part in any fee received.

If he really wants out and wants out permanently maybe they're OK with that rather than having an unhappy player out on loan then coming back to the same situation in the summer?

Still think it's a long shot. Other clubs, him wanting to come here, Bayern letting him go. Where we are now even just a loan would probably be good for us. But really would like a permanent or an option/obligation thing.

Do hope we have other options being worked on too.

He would do great at a Liverpool because they are so functional everywhere. Somewhere like here he would compound our issues, he would be great going forward but we are already open in defence from some not tracking (even at full fitness)

Had literally never heard of this Tel fella last week

There were suggestions we were trying to get him part-exchange in the Kane deal, a bit like we tried with Sancho and Kyle Walker.

I think the only thing not ideal is that his principal position now (while he's still bulking up to become a CF) would likely be LWF, rather than RWF, which is the side we're well stacked on. If he was in addition to Dibling though, we'd be laughing.
