The transfer thread

One prolific season is entirely different than "proven". He's a seasoned PL pro. Claiming he's only had one proven season is completely wide of the mark.
He's a striker, if he's scoring 6 goals or less per season he's unproven. A striker currency is goals if hes not scoring them there's no point in that player.

So yes up until 2023/2024 Solanke was unproven and even that season needed to be followed up on to confirm that level (he's done that this season).

I would say to be a "proven" striker there would be a link to goals proving that too though. I like Solanke so not digging him out, just think I know what Bishop was trying to say (I could be wrong)

Think this will go the same way as Kolo Muani - there are bigger clubs and/or clubs in top European competition who would want him, we just aren't up there in terms of attractiveness right now.....
One advantage is that we are the most desperate :)

If they want a buyback clause? sure (I've seen rumors they would like this, surely no other club would agree)
If they want a loan with option to buy? sure
If they just want a two year loan? sure

We'd prob say yes to anything.

Also, do they owe us any money for Kane? that could help both parties as we could write that off.

I know it's wishful thinking, but imo he's one of the best players we could buy regardless of our circumstance.

Just out of curiosity, how would you judge if a defender is "proven" or not? Goals conceded?

Solanke has done much much more
I rate Solanke so it's not me digging at him at all. I remember him at Chelsea and Liverpool so trust me i was very aware of him when he was Duran sort of age and he was a lot of potential but in terms of solidifying and proving that potential he only really came of age last season. So like I said in the summer it was a lot of money for a guy with only one real top season (same for Duran), a bit of a gamble but I'm down for gambles and smart use of the market so all good and he has indeed confirmed that quality this season.

Yes, but this was exactly what people were claiming with Kolo Muani - we would be prepared to pay more money than Juve etc so we would get him. Problem is the player has to agree to come and more often than not if the player has various choices, he will go where he wants to go....

You know how we roll, we will be linked to the best talent in the world and Dave Nugent will be revealed 2 minutes before the deadline out of the blue.

joao mendes -brazilian 19yo - left footed midfielder and barca outcast now at burnley.... looks like a good punt and i am sure will sell some shirts. good genes too - father footballer and mother dancer.

We say what we like about Paratici but he identified two players in one January window who came in and were arguably the reason we got into the CL thst season. It can be done if the work and plans are laid ahead of time clearly and well enough IMO...
Levy spent pretty big în the summer. He wasn't planning on spending în the winter anything. By buying so many youngsters you bank on their future potențial, not on current value. Who is going to carry this team în the present?

You think levy is counting German 2nd division ?

Obviously Levy spends his evenings watching obscure leagues on tv so he can overrule the manager and scouts when the transfer window comes.

If it's because he always goes for the cheap option, I wonder what the alternatives we're to the players we have bought recently.
