The transfer thread

What about transfers OUT ?

Cuti is down to 18 months on his contract and I won't blame him.if he is seeking out.

Has porro also had his head turned with those real Madrid rumours?

Austin I won't be surprised if a bid comes along. Vicario too, we could profit heavily from.

He isn't, he's got 2.5 years.

Son, Bentancur and Bissouma are the summer 2026 ones. Then Romero and Richy 2027.

So we don't go for Williams in the summer when we finished 5th, instead signing Odebert when we didn't get Neto, but think we'd be more likely to get him now we are in a relegation mess?
Great material.

Tbf, maybe they've got the name spelling wrong and we are actually going for Neco Williams at Forest..

Maybe players don't want to come because they feel (1) we won't win anything (2) postecoglu is a nobody and (3) our wages isn't top dollar.

That's why we end up paying over the top for Richy, Solanke and Maddison.

We've got a great record for being a stepping stone though...Bale, modric, berbatov, Carrick, Walker, Sheringham etc.

I’ll go out in a limb and say that someone is gonna sign Hincapie in the prem
His club have just taken a guy on loan who plays his position
I know us, Chelsea and pool were keen
And Chelsea are selling Disasi to villa in one of those weird PSR moves it seems

Wouldn't that be so Spurs. Spending all month slating Lange, only to sign a player of the quality if Hincapie.

My fear though is that horse is bolted. We're 2 or 3 window beyond a point where a Spurs land a player like this. I could see him going to any of the big clubs in the PL except maybe Arsenal. Pool are carrying the centre half injuries and VVD is getting older. Chelsea buy anyone. Pep loves collecting ball playing centre halves. Saudi Sportswashing Machine are short at the back.

We say what we like about Paratici but he identified two players in one January window who came in and were arguably the reason we got into the CL thst season. It can be done if the work and plans are laid ahead of time clearly and well enough IMO...
I like Paratici. Not the cheating part, but I like him none the less.

He got us those signings right at the end IIRC. Was accused of leaving it late and panic buying Juve rejects after not planning well enough and not doing business early enough. Not by you necessarily (I don't remember, don't think so).

We don't know what's going on behind the scenes now. If it ends up with us only signing Kinsky it's for sure a disappointing window. If it's Kinsky and another not good enough loan signing, for sure still not good enough. But let's see what actually happens.

Things can be planned for and done early. But not the same things that can be planned for and done later on imo.

Good post.
Oh to my shame I absolutely did not get/know Deki at first! Ignorance obviously.

I think that window and this are a little different in so much as the writing was appearing on the wall in mid-November. Still, to your point, lets see.

The writing is different. Injury crisis (crisis seems like an understatement) and our plummeting league form. But the writing was on the wall then too, definite need for reinforcements and a squad that was (not including injuries) imo quite a bit weaker.

More reasons to do business early this window, probably more room for patience that window. More of a crisis this time around, more long term and underlying issues that time.

More Transfers will start happening after Thursday, when the group stage in CL, EL and ECL are done, and clubs know what comes ahead. It was always going to be like that, apart from the odd transfers. Most transfers happen at the end of the window regardless, but it was obvious it would be even more so with Europe games still on until late in the window.

Im not convinced. The january window has been dying on its arse for years now, its kind of fizzling out of relevance.

It died out here because clubs had broke PSR
Obviously we can see Chelsea and Villa are trying to rig it again
But in other countries there was movement
It’s always been a brick time to buy
But even in the summer deals are done late

I'm just asking out of curiosity - would it be such a catastrophy to just allow transfers all year round? Is the reason for the windows not to distract teams and managers from their actual job? Just ditch the endlessly pointless and boring press conferences and interviews and we'd be fine, right? fudge the press, who gives a brick about them anyway? Punditry and journalism around football just annoys me. Unnecessary noise.

It was to stop teams with money just buying new players if they got themselves in trouble.
Used to open for transfers until end of march.
Then the summer only transfer window was introduced.
The the Jan window was added.
Can't remember the dates, but I think that all happened between 2000-2010 ish

You're right. 2002/2003. I seem to remember thst as well, it being introduced, but can't remember how the system worked prior to that at all. It sounds better than this weird system we have now, where everything happens on the last few days.

I would actually look at selling Ragusin. Not the worst player but not suited to us. If Romero stays he won't get much game time next year with us not being in Europe. If Romero goes we would need better then him as first choice centre half.

Would not mind next season to have as our 4 central defenders, Zebrinski (Bournemouth), VDV, Phillips, Vucovic(croat kid forget how you spell it)

Then Davies as 5th choice and a good cover left back.

If we stay in the prem and are not in Europe that will be enough. Hardy and Dorrington can go on loans.

I am at a work event today so can't scan the interweb for latest but someone told me we are looking at making a couple of bumper signings in the coming days.............anyting looking likely? Sorry I am being lazy hah
