The transfer thread

When I've said we need a left back, some say it isn't a priority. But you can argue that just having one left back was the "nail", for the want of which we lost the shoe, lost the horse, lost the rider, the battle etc. With no rival for Udogie, Spence has played on the left. With Spence on the left, Porro has had to play every game, and is now making daft mistakes because he is so knackered.
So I say....get a frigging left back in so that Spence can play on the right.....
We need a left back as a priority
The lack of left footers in the squad kills so much play

I just read that Harry Rednpap's team of 2010/11 had 6 centre backs: King, Dawson, Kaboul, Woody,Gallas and Bassong, compared with our 4.
Were they all there at the same time?
Plus he had 4 strikers: Keane Defoe Crouch Pav - whereas we have 2.

Says something about how unprepared we were for the reality of playing 2 games a week. If we don't strengthen this week, and stick with Ange, I see us in the Championship next season. Not many takers for the Stratus lounge at nearly 8k a pop when we go down.
We have 2 players per position currently, if it wasn’t for this freak injury crisis we would have 3 or 4 first team players missing out on bench spots. Our fans want us to add to this number of players aswell as blood through youngsters aswell. Not going to work with out offloading current squad players, we will end up being stacked, fans will want players sold in the summer and then replaced and we will still have too many players in the squad.

Vicario, Kinky
Porro, Spence
Romero, Dragusin
Van de Ven, Davies
Udogie, Reggie

Bentancur, Gray
Sarr, Bissouma
Bergvall, Maddison

Kulu, Johnson
Odobert, Son

Solanke, Richie

Moore
Huk Tuh
Lankshear
Forster
Werner

Thats 27 players for 11 positions.

Yes we are thin at the moment but if we bring in more talent and offload the likes of Reggie, Forster, Werner, Davies etc whats to say we have another injury crisis next season, we will be doing the same again next January. If we don’t have an injury crisis and what looks like no extra European games, we are going to have a lot of players unhappy not playing.

We can't just create narratives though. We have 3 specialist LBs - Udogie, Davies, Reggie and we have 3 makeshift LB's - VDV, Spence, Gray. We have given our manager 6 options.

Now if you're the one paying the wage bill, do you want to read that we only have one LB and one RB playing LB? It is just not true.

I keep banging the drum on this but Ange's job is fully optimise the playing squad he has been given. There is nothing you can do BETWEEN transfer windows. Sometimes, there is nothing you can IN transfer windows to churn your squad.

The "nail" you talk about is actually not fully optimising your available squad.

Keeps their fans attending short term
Home town boy ish…
Maybe his price will go up

3rd point moot as I'm saying why make the deal now, which would obviously see the fee agreed now. I can see why they would hold on to sell in the summer in the hope of increasing the transfer fee.

Agreeing a deal for the summer now doesn't seem to suit anyone.

And that's why we need players that make sense short term and long term. Like Kinsky. Not to go into emergency mode.

would prefer a right winger. We don't have one. Kulu is better in midfield and Johnson is a right sided attacker but NOT a winger. All our "wingers" are best on the left, We have too many of them - Son, Odebert, Wan, Moore, Solomon, even Richarlianson is best as a left sided attacker. Currently there is no-one that can play that position on the right.

Southampton are dead and buried so what's the incentive for them to keep hold of Dibling till summer? Assuming the deal is made now as opposed to waiting for a bidding war
Its the giving up message it sends i guess. Plus he's injured for the next month, so wouldnt likely contribute much to us this season anyway.

I would be bringing Solomon back now. He is fit and scoring, we will soon stop that but even so we need him back.

Cam always sell in the summer if needed.
