The Blue & Yellow ITK Bonanza Thread

It's looking like Paulinho, Villa and one more attacker, which would make me very happy. Anything else is just a bonus, like an upgrade on Dawson.

Get the most needed signings sorted, then keep an eye on things towards the end of the window, who knows what opportunities might arise?

we'd have a very strong starting XI with those two, my next choice would be a WF to play alongside Villa and Bale - Im sure Lennon could do a job there and i wouldn't want to sell him in any circumstance as he would be a priceless squad player imv who would get more than his fair share of games over the course of a season, BUT a more naturally suited player to which ever role is going spare after Villa and Bale take theirs would give us a starting XI to mix it with the best of them.

that's of course assuming we actually sign the players currently linked

Yep - and we've looked incredibly toothless in the past when Lennon has been out. Someone who can stand-in/rotate with him and Bale would be great. Townsend can still get games but would be less pressure on him

I know Villa is deadly but where would you prefer he played for us? On the left like he does for Barcelona or up top on his own?

Put it this way would you rather we signed David Villa, Paulinho but no more strikers. (Because Villa would play up top on his own) or David Villa, Paulinho and a striker..

think Villa was at his best as a CF for Valencia - play him there.

i also think it'd be easier for us to sign a WF of the required level than a forward

edit : also think we'll be keeping Adebayor - which means more potential options upfront with Villa Bale and Ade all capable of switching/starting from different positions/providing different roles. potentially a new LWF type coming in, as well as Lennon being here

ah it's too exciting really, it's not gonna happen is it?

Yeah - if we get Paulinho and Villa in the next week or so, that would mean we can more casually try and get a good deal on one of Leandro or Bernard (and which of them will likely determine Villa's primary position).

As for bonus signings, for me a young sweeper keeper who can come in for Lloris and not require the whole system to change might be nice, though I don't know how highly rated Archer is.

I'd be very happy with just those 3 incomings tbh. It's a sign of our progress when we can just make choice signings and don't have to turnover half our team every summer (like Liverpool are doing now)

I'd prefer him on the left and a striker in the mould of Benteke. I want a striker with aerial prowess but who isn't lacking on the floor either. I would have preferred Jackson Martinez to Benteke but, I guess we know that's not an option.

Villa----Leandro---Bale

or

Bernard--Villa---Bale

I couldn't give a brick! I'd be over the moon with either. Bernard is probably the better player, but young decent #9s are much harder to come by than tricky playmakers.

thanks Meg

that's ok plagiariser.

Villa has spoken before about being able to play in his favoured central position. I'd hazard a guess that he would get some sort of assurance from the next club he joins that he will be primary used as a central striker.

Villa isn't going to come here and play on the left.

Where he's been playing for the past 3 years?

A lot of people were saying Bale would play wide either until this Paulinho thing started off.

Maybe we'll just have an incredibly fluid front 3 (which our bad arse CM trio will allow).

didnt Vertonghen say the same (regarding centre back and left back)? If AVB wants to play him on the left he will and Villa couldnt do brick about it

On the left but when he's quoted as saying it's important for him to play as a striker then i tend to take his word for it.
