The Annual Tottenham Hotspur Striker Search: January 2015 Edition

Crap :)

I thought wavelength was like 95.6 or 909, and frequency was AM, FM or LW!

95.6 is a frequency. Hz denotes the number of oscillations per second.

Wavelength is the distance between the peaks in a sinusoidal signal and is inversely proportional to frequency.

LW is a frequency band. Long wave = low frequency.

AM and FM are modulation types, amplitude and frequency. You could say he was on AM and the rest on FM.

By the time we actually sign a striker Gutter Boy will be correctly explaining the double slit experiment (no jgl, it's not what you think).

Speaking of Mitchell, Southampton fans don't have much time for him, and seem genuinely disappointed in the abhorrent quality of some of the players he brought in during his time there, Mane and Long being two examples. Warrants some concern on our side about his abilities, I feel.

Mitchell is just a typical flavour of the month appointment that Levy likes to make. Southampton really didn't seem too fussed about him leaving.

Wasn't his role at Southampton a similar one to what he has with us? I don't see how Southampton fans could know what his input was on various players compared to the input from other scouts, head coach etc.

A flavour of the month that our current head coach has worked with for a year and a half and would know quite a lot about.

Assuming that it was very little Southampton could do to keep him, how would you expect them to react publicly to losing him? Big panic, or calmly?

They also thought they had a chance at getting Champions League. But this is all for a different thread.

Another day another striker being linked: http://www.caughtoffside.com/2014/12/18/liverpool-and-tottenham-hotspur-linked-with-moves-for-serie-a-rising-star-centre-forward/

21 year old striker, linked via Italian sources (nope, no DiMarzio). I remember he was absolutely freaking awesome on FM about the last year I played FM, think he was around 16 then. Has seemingly taken some time developing, but 10 starts this season for Fiorentina with a decent return. Couple of quotes from the article seem promising:

The 21 year-old Senegalese striker has used a successful loan spell with Modena in Serie B last season to launch his career at the Stadio Artemio Franchi and now has five Serie A goals to his name for La Viola, although it is his all-round game and raw power that is likely to have caught the eye of Premier League suitors.

Incredible hard-working and deceptively subtle on the ball, Babacar is one of a number of Serie A youngsters to rise to prominence this season despite a fairly underwhelming campaign from his team, but it is likely to take a significant bid from Spurs or Liverpool if they are to tempt Fiorentina into selling.

Raw power, work rate, all round game, subtle on the ball. Contract until 2016 apparently...

Oh, and obligatory wonder strike goal:

I actually remember us being linked with him last season and watching a fair bit of Italian football I have kept an eye on him. I would like us to go for a player like this rather then Martinez which is stupid money and wages.

Would you agree with the description above from the link?

I agree that "someone like this" seems like a good option. No idea if Babacar is actually good enough though.

Babacar now there is an FM legend. Has the attributes. It's whether he cares to make the most of them.

Would be a punt to be honest could work out might not. He has pace and powers a lot of his shots which is something I wish soldado would do sometimes, so that might stand him in good stead for the prem, but I think he is a little rough round the edges, as you would expect or we would not have a shot at getting him.

I like him so would be happy if he was one of our two new strikers by the start of next season.

Out of who is linked/possible, who are the truly quick/pacey strikers?

With Eriksen/Lamela, having someone who was really quick in front of them could be deadly

Although we need a fresh Striker. As HR said 'you can't have enough quality players' etc etc. All true, but I think we probably need an outstanding midfield player or wide player more. Someone who is close to their prime, not a prospect. Now the thing is all clubs want one of these players. Could we attract or afford them? It may be easier to develop such a player from the current crop.

With Kane, we know Soldado and Ade can score goals - they have a track record of doing so. So if the team settles and Soldado gets his head right, and Ade his form, I would say we would benifit from spending £20m on a zhit hot winger like Deplay or a midfielder like or better than Shneiderling, Moutinho etc.

Fenerbahçe would be willing to sell Emmanuel Emenike for €15 million according to a report in Eurosport Turkey.

The powerful striker has been closely linked with Tottenham and Qatar’s Lekhwiya over recent weeks.

Turkish newspaper Milliyet reported that Tottenham have been keeping close tabs on the Nigerian international.

Emenike was joint top scorer at the 2013 African Cup of Nations and also had and impressive World Cup and helped Nigeria reach the Round of 16.

The 27-year-old striker joined Fenerbahçe last summer from Spartak Moscow for €13 million, and scored 12 goals as well as providing 9 assists last season.

The Nigerian international recently revealed that if he were to leave Turkey he would only consider a Premier League club.

“But to be linked with the Premier League is a dream come true,” Emenike said.

“I would love to play there in my career. There are many great clubs there.”
