Tanguy Ndombele

I think most of us can agree that there is a player there, lets hope he can now push on and show just how good he is. Said it before but some players who come here from abroad do not perform well in their first year ( for lots of reasons).
I have very few concerns about him showing how good he is. Even being new to the league, struggling with injuries and fitness, having no basis to build form and confidence he's shown his quality on the ball. His quality has been obvious to all I think.

Just needs the fitness and mentality to do the job defensively. He seems to be moving in that direction. If that can happen we'll have a truly spectacular player on our hands.

Makes sense to be cautious. Think he'll end up with a fair few of those assist to the assists like today with his specific set of skills, it's just keeping the momentum going and hopefully not a long lay off.

Hopefully he’ll be back doing this on Tuesday / Thursday / Sunday... so Lo Celso doesn’t end up being run into the ground, as none of our other midfielders seem capable of playing a defence splitting forward pass.

That’s insanely good. That’s what he gives us. Thought Jose was a little hard on him in the post match interview. Hopefully we get to see more of this.

Sounded like it was as much about the yellow card as his lack of match fitness on BT Sport.

Damn, what did he say?
Said that Ndombele is not in good condition in the press conference...

Does not seem harsh or rude. Some people really have an axe to grind with Mourinho.

Wasn’t having a dig at all at Mourinho and have no agenda against him. On BT the interviewer said “why did you take off Ndombele given how instrumental he was in the first goal.”

Mourinho replied “it’s not about one play. We thought GLC would give us more...” and then went into the yellow card situation. The first part of the reply if you see it certainly sounded like “he did fudge all else”.

Ndombele clearly being managed fitness wise atm

He's hardly played for 6 months, not expecting him to be turning out 90 minute games all of a sudden

Eh. He got 45 minutes under his belt, and was trusted to start - that's generally how Mourinho shows trust, going by the Amazon doc where he says the same thing.

He had a quiet 45, but had a bit of absolute magic for the equalizer - obviously we expect more from him, and we should. But him going off seems to me just an acknowledgement that he's still unfit and that a tired tackle in the second half could get him a second yellow. We'll see more of him going forward, and hopefully he builds on this.

But that is almost the case, he showed a couple of flashes on the ball but what else did he really do? We were getting overrun in midfield (not saying it was just him to blame) and showed when Lo Celso came on who gets around the pitch much better. Mourinho wasn’t being critical about him, but he is still looking for NDombele to show more and continue improving - sucking him off about that bit of skill and he could start thinking he’s made it and get complacent. Think Jose played the question correctly.....

Thought it was a bit unnecessary myself and he could have just batted the question away but this is how Jose manages and he's been a bit more successful than me so perhaps he knows what he's doing. Other managers would have given a banal answer but Jose doesn't do that. Ndombele wasn't great but he was far better than the other two in the middle. You make a fair point though.
