A young French centre half who is on a rapid rise. Been at Montpellier his whole career (being a fan of them since I went there a few years back, I've seen him perform), he is 23 and already captain of his team. He was also picked in France's Euro 2012 team. If I was to say he reminds me of ANY centre half in the Premier League it'd probably be a Vincent Kompany. I rate him higher than Kaboul too.

Strong, plays the ball on the floor, great in the air. Just seeing how Saudi Sportswashing Machine have done buying from French league, buying Cabaye (crucial in Lille's title winning team), I think signing a CAPTAIN from a team from the french league who just WON the league. Him and Kaboul would be our centre back pairing for YEARS to come.

Well, dont know about anyone else but i'm definately sold on that

Just seen a French article which roughly translates into us being interested. I think he'd be a great signing but after reading about Silvestre, Olssen etc. I'm not going to get my hopes up.

there are two names that could be of use to us if we lose Modric and struggle to sign strikers......Gourcuff and Castaignos

Why are people getting hysterical about the Vert deal? Chill out. It's a nice difference for Spurs to be getting their business done early in the summer. Probably the common factor, like in 2008, is the Euros. Levy doesn't want to risk price hikes after the tournament, and that's good for us.

I still think we'll get this deal done. If we lose out on it, he'll look like a bloody plonker.

'Tottenham midfielder Niko Kranjcar admits he could be tempted by a big-money move to Russia or Ukraine. The 27-year-old Croatian, who joined Spurs in 2009, started just nine games last season. "In Russia and Ukraine playing football you can earn huge money," Kranjcar told Croatian website Index. "Whether we admit it or not, money is important. Football in the east has progressed. The teams are always high up in the Champions League or are in the Europa League final. It's not like it was 10 years ago."'

At least he doesn't pussyfoot around it.

As Harry clearly doesn't want to play Niko in support behind a lone striker,
there's really no place for Niko in our squad anymore.
Will be good for him to move on, he's far too talented to sit on our bench.

The problem with the deal as my ITK understands is we want to pay a tiny amount upfront and the rest over 2/3 years and ajax want most of the money upfront and the rest over 2 years and also some stuff about bonus payments but they are coming closer in negoating every day! It is nearly done but just needs to be ironed out could take abit yet or could be done today! Depends on DL willing to pay more money upfront and/or ajax lowering there inital fee!

Poor old GDS, is he ever going to get a move away...

...Spurs had big hopes for Dos Santos when he arrived from Barcelona, but the forward has not started a league game since August 2008 and now faces yet more uncertainty over his future after a proposed move to Spanish side Villarreal fell through following their relegation from the Primera Division.

"We were very advanced in terms of agreeing for Giovani to play for Villarreal, but that has all collapsed now because they have been relegated," Dos Santos' lawyer and representative Vicente Montes was quoted as saying on the website of Mexican Radio station Grupo Formula.

"Villarreal being relegated has affected everything - the transfer, the wages. It would have been different had they stayed in the Primera Division."

'Former England international Michael Owen, who will leave Manchester United in the summer, tweets: "Having a 5-a-side tonight with my mates. If any scouts fancy popping down to assess my form they are welcome!"'

Because his mates at the park might make him look good.

In other words, nothing has changed.

bet he limps off injured

My take on a lot of what is going on is that Levy doesnt want to pay good money/wages for good players and that we will be blaming Redknapp soon after he signs cheap old players.

Not sure where else to put this.. doesn't really deserve it's own thread....
