The last paragrah could have been written about Gallas and Ade, mind you - and is speculative at best and shockorama at worst. All about the right context, imv - becoming a qunt around qunts and vice-versa, etc.

Hardly!

While Gallas and Ade had a history of being moany gits I don't think they ever broke a teammates jaw, beat up their girlfriends or smashed a glass in someones face for starters!

Or injured themselves falling of a bar stool because they were to drink to sit up straight.

He'd be a decent backup for Ade.

But not for anything above 10m really, which is where the sticking point would be.
wouldn't even consider him for that. He has terrible positional sense, poor first touch and basically just an outlet to hoof the ball up to. Should've kept Crouch if that's what we want.
Carroll was a source of ridicule for a season and a half, then a couple of half decent games at the end of the season, a goal in the Euro's and he's a top 4 player again all of a sudden? Ridiculous.

Man... seriously, who brought up Andy Carroll.. this transfer window has just about reached rock bottom!

Never claimed we were interested, just something to waste 5 seconds on while waiting for Adebayor. Unfortunately there are some that actually want us to sign him.

fudging hell arc I wouldn't want him anywhere near our squad!!!!

I agree - let's stick with Defoe and Kane - Europa League Winners 2012/13

Or Ade who was supposedly done 4 weeks ago but seems to be stalling most likely because similar to most footballers wants to get paid first and foremost and couldn't give a fudge about the rest.

Or... wait - that's about it really. Now where have we seen this scenario before - few weeks to go and fudge all happening at Spurs's striker department, last minute bids for Aguero's dog walker, fans slitting wrists on September 1st, mass panic and agression amongst the rest.

I ask again - where are those realistic striker targets (question to be addressed to DL more than anyone) - better yet - how many have we been linked with. Lloris we enquired about, the rest has been utter speculation and false rumours. We are also going up to Saudi Sportswashing Machine in 2 weeks by the way.

Carrol is a good player who can score goals. Most of the mud being thrown and him is no different to some of the Gallas and Ade comments prior to their arrival. Not to mention those sub-scum songs being sang.

In fact - I'd take this further and draw parallels to AVB's appointment and most people's reservations based on his time with Chelsea.

Right. Because when you apply for a job your employer would only consider 25% of your previous experience and ignore the rest.

In fact - if we signed him and he banged 25 goals none of you (or at least 95%) wouldn't give a fudging shocked mouse's tail if he fell off a chair drunk or laid the nut on someone after a few pints at the local (Ledley?). Look at Ade - gooner scum, large mammals lover, etc..... and a Spurs legend 12 months later, begging him to come back.

No idea on Borinni in all honesty, just basing it on the "if he does what he was bought to do" premise.

Gerrard is, IMO, a wildly over rated player. BUT he is "Mr Liverpool" and he WILL play. If he has to play thats the only place he has been consistently effective IMO.

Borini is a pretty handy player IMO. His most notable attributes are his work-rate and movement, these are the things that will endear him to Liverpool fans and make him important to Rodgers' system - he'll always find space to receive the ball. he's also a pretty tidy finisher, but most of his Roma goals came from the left side of the pitch, it'll be interesting to see whether he's deployed as the central striker or a wide forward, personally I think they could do with a bit more of a presence up front. Never seen him as a particularly talented passer, he has a tendency to be over-ambitious but this is probably something that'll go with experience.

He worked with Rodgers at the Chelsea academy and at Swansea while in the Championship so the two know each other very well. In this respect it's a safe signing to guarantee a move towards Rodgers' brand of football, but I am getting the impression that Rodgers doesn't have the knowledge of the global game to find quality players that match his blueprint, hence the lack of signings/ bids for past players in Borini and Allen.

Either way, I think Borini is an astute signing. He probably won't light up the league with goals or assists (especially if he plays out wide), but he will be key in moving Liverpool to a more possession-centred pattern of play.

Arc, There are other options besides ''Stick with Defoe/Kane'' or go for Carroll

I agree, but I think Arc's made a point. We shouldn't write off Carroll for anything other than footballing reasons, he hasn't done anything off the pitch (aside from breaking someone's jaw, which is the first I've heard of that - what happened?) to warrant keeping him away from the club. Ledley was getting legless regularly at Faces and we all still loved him cos he put in incredible performances. Now I'm not saying that Carroll is Ledley, but Carroll (as for many other players with dubious off-field records), can certainly bring a lot to the squad in its current state. I would be infinitely happier with Carroll up front than with Defoe or Kane.

While he would unquestionably strengthen our squad, I would hope we have someone a bit more mobile lined up though. And of course someone class to go in the first team i.e. ADEBAYOR.

12 million for Borini?? that might turn out to be a handy signing, he was always highly rated as a kid at Chelsea and might end up being a late developer like Rossi

I see Pazzini at Inter is available, a good finisher who is handy in the build up too.

It couldnt, unless there are episodes of hard drinking and violence in Gallas/Adebayors past I am unaware about.

Both players have been vocal dissenters in previous situations, difficult customers - but never displayed behaiour like that.

There are dozens of players out there that are better (IMO) and definitely cheaper than Carroll. Many of them can be picked up right now if we wanted to, but ultimately they're not good enough for where we want to be. The few that are are difficult to acquire and takes time. If at any point this window it looks like we're not getting our primary targets we'll find a stop gap somewhere.

Cheers, I knew heh ad worked with Rodgers before but nothing more

Carroll would be a hoof magnet in the same way as Crouch was. He was shocking last season as well. Not for me.
Anyway AVB said he's a non-runner. I hope he stays at Aintree.

Santi Cazorla is due to fly into London this week for a medical with Arsenal, Sky Sports understands.

Apparently we're in talks with Julio Cesar. Sounds more like agent rumblings to me as Inter are looking to get rid.

He and Taylor (their CB) had a disagreement in training so Carroll punched him - put him into hospital with a broken jaw and took a long time to recover.

There is plenty of record of him drinking to all hours (even while at Liverpool)

He spent time living at Nolans house - cant remember why - and causing trouble there as well.

Basically he seems to be a stupid, classless oik who has destructive/self destructive tendencies with little regard for consequence.

While I think he is a decent player (and much under rater / over slagged off as a footballer for sure) who would do an effective job in our side I just cant bring myself to condone the baggage that would appear to come with him.
