Which player would you like to see take over from Luka Modric?

"Modric lite" is probably a pretty fair snapshot. And while he has only been on the premiership scene a season he has been in Swanseas team for years and been just as good the whole time.

He recycles the ball very well, yes thats a lot of sideways passes but he also pushes it forward well as well. He has the ability similar to Modric to carry the ball forward and ride a challenge or two while doing so. He is also ok defensively, more the type to intercept or nick it off your toe than tackle (though not in a super Carrick sort of way)

A very tidy, busy player who keeps his team ticking over.

For Liverpool it doesnt sound the most exciting of buys but next to Lucas at the base of midfield he could be integral to embedding Rodges style and getting them playing.

...........Lucas......Allen
................Gerrard
...Suarez................. ?
.................Borinni

With Johnson and Enrique overlapping as well thats beginning to shape up as a decent team IMO. I dont know if its good enough to push the top 4 or 5, but can imagine it wouldnt be too far behind.

Im thinking there will be a top 7 and then something of a gap to 8th next season (in no particular order) City, Utd, Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal, Saudi Sportswashing Machine and Liverpool will be the 7 and then it will be some distance to 8th IMO.

Is Borini any good? Never seen him play

Also not expecting much from Gerard consistently going forwards. Had a respectable Euro 2012 but dont nothing in the PL for 2-3 years

No idea on Borinni in all honesty, just basing it on the "if he does what he was bought to do" premise.

Gerrard is, IMO, a wildly over rated player. BUT he is "Mr Liverpool" and he WILL play. If he has to play thats the only place he has been consistently effective IMO.

Sky Sports: Andy Carroll has not travelled with the Liverpool squad to Belarus

I'd be delighted if we signed him - couldn't give a brick if he fits into Rodgers' self-inflated passing tippy-tappy flimflam system which I doubt would work with those cloggers anyway. In fact - I 'd question this managerial decision even further since he appears reluctant to adapt to existing players with potential or at least display some tactical versatility and accommodate a 35m club asset.

Good player who'd score goals for us - I hope we're in there

While I dont agree on your assessment of Rodgers style I think its a very fair point that the management are happy for him to just bin a player purchased for £35m only a year or so ago. Also, in all honesty, I see no reason at all why he couldnt do a job like Graham did at Swansea last season.

As to us, as a player I think Carroll could do a good job. He is obviously excellent in the air, but under rated on the deck. He has pretty good feet for finding room to shoot and a decent shot on him. As a player I wouldnt be against him coming in at all.

Problem is, as a package he is reputably a massive massive c*nt. Not sure I like the idea of him partying to all hours in London then breaking Vertonghens jaw in a training ground disagreement, squating round VDVs house and bringing tarts back for partytime...

The last paragrah could have been written about Gallas and Ade, mind you - and is speculative at best and shockorama at worst. All about the right context, imv - becoming a qunt around qunts and vice-versa, etc.

Andy Carroll may win the ball in the air a lot but he certainly isn't excellent in the air. His "flick ons" often go straight up in the air or back where the ball came from. The very definitiin of a 50p head. I've said it before, laughable that people would even consider having him for us.

He'd be a decent backup for Ade.

But not for anything above 10m really, which is where the sticking point would be.

thank GHod AVB has already ruled it out.. you feeling ok arcy?

Wouldnt want Carroll as a back-up at all! His personality, fondness of a drink and style of play makes me think that he would be the worst back-up possible. Think he's the sort of person who needs to play regularly in order to stay fit so being in and out of the team wouldnt work for him
