That's not the point he's making though. He's just saying you have to look at the trends of the market. Unless you have the power to overspend on players you have to wait. All teams are looking to sign players but hardly any deals have been done yet in relation to the amount that will be done by the end of the window because of various factors that apply to all clubs who don't have an embarrassment of riches. The players we could get in early we have done....

players tend to be more expensive towards the end of the window because the selling club doesnt have enough time to find a replacement, and so asks for ridiculous money to put off the buying club

AVB in the press conference today said we're not looking to bring any goalies in. That probably puts paid to the Lloris' move, if it was ever on. He did rather interesting say that all 3 keepers are competing for the starting spot and will get one game each.

fudge what our manager says I believe the sweeper keeper tactical wizards of GG.

Reports emerging from Portugal, Inter set to sign Porto's Fernando on loan, meaning Moutinho likely to stay in Portugal. #FCP #MUFC#THFC

Hopefully Ade done this week before Watford so he gets two games in preseason. I can then stomach a little more to wait til the end of august to get the second striker we badly need. If it is leandro then he wouldn't be able to join us for a week after the olympics anyway.

Things are worrying me but I'm hoping AVB wanted to see the whole squad before confirming his suspicions, get back from US and sort things out. I want this to be a NEW spurs. Not the same old, last minute, gaping holes in the squad we've been for years upon fudging years!

it doesnt take much to see where we have a gaping hole in our squad. He didnt have to work with the players to realise this

Sorry, that's complete rubbish. Take a look at the Bundesliga, most clubs have all but wrapped up their transfers already... Or are they buying different Europeans to the ones that we are?

The difference between us and other clubs who actually have budget is that we cast our net too wide, fail to make a priority and eventually lose out as we never go after our man.

Adebayour is a calamity waiting to happen, transfer wise, we should be all guns blazing at a different strike target right now imo. Aside from that, I actually think that we should be looking elsewhere anyway, but that's a different conversation.

do you think so, i actually think its too narrow....all our eggs seem to be in the Ade and Leandro baskets, and the hope is that by 31st Aug they will fall into our laps at the prices we want. Big risk

id prefer us to admit we dont have the budget to compete at the top end and adjust our sights accordingly.

did he? he has said that on more than one occasion now and yet some still refuse to believe him.

imo LLoris will stay at Lyon for one more year, and Butland the same at Birmingham, and next summer we will take our pick from either

Even though AVB has said this, the Lloris links are still being mentioned in the media, including by our own Tony Parks in the Q&A session. Add to that the fact that the Lyon chairman won't let it die either. He's in the news every day bleating on about it. One could surmise that there have been recent discussions at least and the move is not totally out of the question.

I'm beginning to think that AVB says whatever serves him at that point in time, like when he rubbished the links to Spurs for himself.

Edit: I still think the chances that he'll come are less than 1 in 10 but still a small chance.

just like Aulas said, we have sounded out some agents regarding Lloris but thats as far as its gone.

but think about it, we have 3 good keepers right now, on decent wages im sure, and with none being linked away from the club. So how can we add a 4th in Lloris to the mix, and pay around 9 mill for the privilege.

since AVB became manager of us he has been pretty much open and honest with every question asked of him, and all Tony parks said was that he has know of Lloris since he was 16 and rates him highly

i really think a deal can be struck next summer, its not like any other club is chasing Lloris atm, most top clubs are sorted in the keeper dept

That bit I'd say is accurate in the past. I'm not convinced that's the case with AVB, I think he has specific targets in mind. Anyway we shall see how it all pans out.....

With Ade, he seems to be the only player we have properly targeted. Apart from that, we seem to have vague interest in all and sundry. There may be a lot of made up rumours about Spurs but there is a lot of truth as well. We have tippy tappyed around Remi, Rossi, Leandro, Ade and countless others with Ade being the only one we have made serious enquiries about unless you consider Levy offering 50% of Remi and Leandros asking prices being serious.

I'm hoping that AVB has a plan, but he didn't seem to have an accurate transfer policy at Chelsea that I could see and I haven't seen any indication that he has here either. Vertonghen was scouted last season and I'm not even sure that Gylfi would have been targeted by AVB. Seems more opportunistic to me. I haven't seen any evidence of us having any sort of plan.

It's frustrating because two of the best players we've purchased both quality and sell on value wise - - Berbatov and Modric - have been decisive buys well before the season starts. Where has that urgency when it comes to identifying and buying players before others get involved gone? Oscar should have been wrapped up ages ago before Chelsea got a sniff if we were that interested, if we'd had the same attitude with Modric or Berbatov they would probably have both been off to a team with a bigger budget.
