For all the good things we have done lately, this area is the one downfall.

How many windows have gone now without signing 'that striker' we really need, and here we are in a worse position striker-wise than we were in February.
I'd like to think we have Ade +1 other forward almost done, but time is rapidly running out

It's just those kind of 'complete' strikers that have pace, ability with the ball at their feet and are good in the air are quite rare or cost a hell of a lot of money. We were lucky that Ade fell our way but there aren't too many like him.

Can see us going to St James Park or whatever its now called in August with Defoe and VdV up top or a front 3 of those two plus Bale. Time rapidly running out....

Think Levy's a great Chairman however the time we take to get our transfer business done is crazy.

Joey Barton is banned for 12 matches, So QPR are going to loan him to Fleetwood Town because they will start their season earlier and play more games in Aug and Sept than QPR do, so his ban is over quicker.

I'm sorry but wtf is that all about ](*,)

it's possible that AVB wouldn't be against Defoe starting.


In the tactics thread it was just mentioned that he wants to continue our 'fast counter-attacking' which defoe should be able to be a part of.

He's got the pace, if Lennon/Bale cross it low he ought to get on the end of some..

(But i feel that is a discussion more suited to the tactics thread...)

What you've missed there is that if the FA catch onto it they can decide he has to serve the ban when he goes back to QPR.

They're highly likely to notice, because it's written all over the place.

Yes, a couple of weeks back it looked like we had finally got our sh#t with regards to a decent transfer window. Rumours that we would have all our incomings sorted by the time we flew to the US. (That idea crashed and burned).

I appreciate its not easy trying to sign these good strikers, but ffs it's been happening now for the last 3, maybe 4 windows

He should play as many games for Fleetwood as he sits out with suspension. Six month loan.

Vertonghen would be more effective up front in AVB's system than Defoe.

And quite right to imo, but what still beats me is why QPR want him back anyway, a leopard never changes its spots. this guy will always be trouble, on, and off, the field

I try not to believe ITK but that young blagger Akqayid on SC said a month ago that there would be a massive investment, big signings, the SC site would go into meltdown and part of me started to believe AVB was to herald a new dawn...

Like all ITKs he exaggerates. Everything is going to be bigger and happen sooner than realistically possible.
