Personally I think way too much is made of missing your players for ACON. It's one month tops (most likely 4 league games) and that is assuming their respective teams qualify and progress. To say we shouldn't consider signing Ba and Ade because of ACON is ridiculous imo.

Togo haven't qualified yet, nobody has. (except probably the hosts)

So 12 points is irrelevant?


I'm not saying we shouldn't sign one or the other. Just both is extremely risky. We lost out on champions league football by 1 point. So every point is important.

There is apparently an ongoing concern about his potential to break down irrecoverably due to a dodgy knee (I think).

Rumour has it this also prevents insurance being taken out on the player, common practice I believe.

No but like you said we shouldn't NOT sign one or either of them because of ACON, most top teams are without some key players for that we should have cover.

The issue with Ba is that clubs can't get insurance on him because it's a pre-existing condition. When his knee does go (as is expected), there'll be no compensation - he'll be a complete write-off.

Re Rossi - two ACLs for a player who utilised pace as much as he did could well mean he'll never get close to his best again. Could be another Lentini.
