That defeats the point of the loan though doesn't it?

They may as well keep him because he'll be available in november (?) if he sits out at qpr, whereas if he goes to fleetwood he'd miss more games because the loan would end in the january window.. or somewhere close..


I'd bet money on it not happening.

In the tactics thread it was just mentioned that he wants to continue our 'fast counter-attacking' which defoe should be able to be a part of.

He's got the pace, if Lennon/Bale cross it low he ought to get on the end of some..

Sorry, but Defoe isnt fast in the slightest. He's agile, has decent reactions and quick over the first 5 yards over any longer distances really isnt quick at all

He's pretty much spot on with that one.

We sign good strikers? It goes into meltdown.

We sign bad strikers? It goes into meltdown.

We sign no strikers? It goes into meltdown.

Aquayid mugged himself right off earlier, said that Gio and Bentley have really impressed in training ... then when it was pointed out to him that Gio's with the Mexico squad he did his best to back track.

He's not? I was of the opinion there was a picture in training sessions of Defoe winning a sprint during training.


Though I can't seem to locate it in the pre-games thread.


I'll concede the point, his size and acceleration could make him look deceptively fast..

Yeah it's pretty cringeworthy. His response that he misquoted a text that said 'Gio no, Bents good with dead balls...' was just ridiculous, when his posted that Gio had been impressing. How on earth does 'Gio no' when asked if Gio is doing well in training, mean that he has?

I think he has some inside track, it doesn't mean he knows everything though and seems to love the sound of his own voice, or trying to make himself look more important than he is.

Yes it was hard to not get drawn in and get excited. The Vertonghen and Sigurdsson fuelled the anticipation even more which has probably made it feel a big letdown that we havent signed anyone since.
I think we may still need 3 or 4 incomings
Ade or alternative (essential)
Back-up RW/Forward
Modric kept or replacement
New GK (Lloris as 1st choice, or a young back-up)

Maybe they were the best options available to us. Why spend so mych money on them and then sign another top striker the next window?

If you ever get the chance to see Harry Redknapp do a Sports evening, he tells a great story along similar lines about Paolo Futre when he signed for West Ham

Just happened on a bit of info from my mate at Brighton - they have a young kid on trial at the moment called Jeremy Balmy, a 17 year old centre midfielder who scored on his debut in a friendly the other day after coming on as sub. Anyway apparently they are on the verge of losing him before they even had him, as we are in for him, along with Arsenal and Milan. Sorry I can't offer any more at the mo, will try to find out...

Is that what transfer rumours are about ? Pick a player, say were interested then just tag the scum along and shuv in another big name like Milan and then pass it off as genuine ?
