Wasn't that just speculation after the fact? Or was there any actual evidence to suggest that it was true?
if the wages weren't so (reportedly) high it would have been a no brainier really, but after the initial period he never really got much game time ? (i was abroad for 90% of that season so don't remember exactly how much he got played) and Harry didn't seem to have any qualms with letting him go on loan last season so it strikes me as a weird deal all in allIt was a very good deal on paper. Versatile midfielder for almost nothing.

Know no one here really cares about MLS, but that would be an absolute class signing for the Red Bulls. They already have three of the top five strikers in the league, adding Cahill to that mix from the midfield would be nasty.
