Which player would you like to see take over from Luka Modric?

Why? The team is unbalanced, filled with mediocre and fading players which they have no chance of recouping their fees on. We have no idea what funds the owners are prepared to make available. And to top it all, it sounds like the owners are going to impose a confused and untested management structure over Rodgers. The Liverpool fans are not famed for the patience and they have a distorted view of what calibre of manager they could/should attract. It sounds like a recipe for disaster to me.

Couldn't agree more. I think Rodgers has the potential to do a good job at Liverpool but he needs time and money to make it stick. Recent History tells us that Liverpool fans don't give someone that isn't a name/someone with history at the club much time if it starts slowly or starts to go wrong so for me this another Hodgson situation in the making which is a shame for Rodgers.

I understand that really it would have been difficult for him to turn it down just as it was for Hodgson but to my mind it will all end exactly the same way and pretty quickly if he cannot get the players to respond to his tactics/style of play.

I think given his style of play he would be afforded more time at Spurs or somewhere like Saudi Sportswashing Machine if he started slowly but not at Liverpool and certainly not when he is replacing someone who is tantamount to GHod on half of merseyside.

This may upset some but there is no such thing as ITK. It's all madeup, attention seeking flimflam. Nobody knows anything. tossers.

More upset that you think you're the only one who's come to that conclusion? Haven't you read this thread?

No I don't think I'm the only one. I just know that the ones who always post ITK were the ones who always wanted to be popular at school!!!

Should tell you something about ITK flimflam then!!]

Yes, most of it is bs, but the odd one or two get some genuine info, no different to the papers really and you're acting as though some of us hang onto their every word. It's like if I went around telling wrestling fans that wrestling is fake.

flimflam. The most popular ones at school were the ones that all the girls were afraid to talk to, so my mum says anyway.

The odd one or two? Do you really believe that? Really? I don't.

Tottenham could turn to Uruguay playmaker Gaston Ramirez if Rafael van der Vaart secures a move to Schalke.
Holland star Van der Vaart has been sounded out about a move to Germany, where his wife Sylvie works for a TV station.
Bologna midfielder Ramirez is seen as a ready-made replacement after an impressive two years in Serie A.

The 21-year-old has been closely followed by Liverpool, but it remains to be seen which players new boss Brendan Rodgers wants to pursue.
While Emirates Marketing Project have also expressed a firm interest in signing Ramirez.

'I can confirm that Juventus and Emirates Marketing Project have contacted me to show an interest,' Ramirez's representative Betancourt said to www.calciomercato.com.

'But there is especially an interesting offer from Wolfsburg and also another one from an important Spanish club.

Dutch courage: Van der Vaart scored in Holland's friendly win over Switzerland on Wednesday

'I think considering all the offers, the possibility that he could leave (this summer) could happen.

'I would like to point out that there are several agents working on the player but from June 1, I will have his exclusive rights.'
Bologna are ready to cash in on a player who cost them under ?ú2.5million when they signed him from Penarol two years ago.
But they will demand at least ?ú14m for a player who is best deployed in the hole between midfield and attack.
Inter Milan are keen, but only if they fail to land Lucas Moura from Sao Paulo, while Napoli have him on a list of potential replacements for Ezequiel Lavezzi.

Sealed with a kiss: Van der Vaart has been sounded out about a move to Germany

Occasionally playing as a second striker, Ramirez has scored 15 goals over the last two seasons for Bologna.
Van der Vaart has tried to play a straight bat to questions about Schalke, adding on Wednesday: 'In football, anything can happen.'

Some typical agent bs:

Emirates Marketing Project have made the first move towards potentially signing Bologna's Gast??n Ram?¡rez, according to the Uruguayan playmaker's agent.
Pablo Betancourt said: "Juventus and Emirates Marketing Project have contacted me but there is especially an interesting offer from Wolfsburg and also another one from an important Spanish club. I think considering all the offers, the possibility that he could leave [this summer] could happen."
This week Roberto Mancini, the City manager, admitted his admiration for the 21-year-old, saying: "He is a good, young player with great potential. In attack, though, we are OK."
Bologna are said to want around ?ú14m for Ram?¡rez, who is under contract for three more years and scored eight goals in 28 Serie A starts last season.

You couldn't make it up!

He didn't commit to us back in Feb and now expects us to give him full backing. Righto.

You have 1 year left, buddy - take it or leave it. Depending on performances next season - offer him another 2 or shake hands - simples.

Ba is settled and productive in this league, also proven to be able to lead the line reasonably well - also no doubt cheaper.

De JOng looks a gamble to me, in this respect I can well understand the club going for BA isntead
