Dribbling is not the same as intelligence. Dembele created a third as many chances as Modric did last season, for good reason - if you watch him regularly and follow the Fulham forums, you'll notice that they say he's brilliant in everywhere but the final third, where he's hopeless and more likely to run up blind alleys instead of spotting the key pass. Hence, he has flourished as a deep player, after starting out as a headless chicken of an AM. I'm not saying he is a bad player by any means, I am saying he has his advantages but you cannot demand him to play a role he's not suited for.

We need team intelligence. We need players who can transition instantly from defense to attack. We need players who can circulate the ball with Modric's passing range. Right now, there is no one capable of doing so, and I can only point to Liverpool's incredible fall from 2nd to 8th due to the loss of one Xabi Alonso, a player who could see past corners. (Yes I know Torres's fitness issues also played a role, but he wasn't the main reason.)

VdV couldn't dribble. Dembele can.

Modric couldn't score (much). Gylfi can.

Dempsey can do both really well.

This idea that we've got no one 'good' in is rubbish. Players are simply not just 'good' or 'bad'. They're good at some things, woeful at others. We've gotten rid of a couple of players who were brilliant at some things. We've replaced them with a few players who are brilliant at other things. Is that a trade-off that will work? Time will tell. But I'd prefer that we did that as opposed to signing Moutinho for 22 million quid and 150k a week because he fits the nebulous 'good' standard we expect all signings to have.

Incidentally, though, all three players we've signed have lit up the Premier League. Moutinho has averaged a couple of goals a season, and a few assists, in the Liga sagres. Just saying, mate.

I agree. We're stronger than Liverpool, Saudi Sportswashing Machine, Everton. How we match up with Scum, other scum and even Utd remains to be seen.

One day we will pull off a major signing, did not think we wouldn't lose Modric and VDV without doing something today. Time for those new, unproven, players to step up to the plates. For all the disagreements here, the accusations, overt negativity or rose-tinted glasses, the proof will come in the results.

tinkled off. We sold 2 of our best players and they haven't been well-replaced in my opinion. We have some finishing off to do in January.

Oh, well, still waiting on confirmation on Dempsey. Accepting now that we didn't get Moutinho. He was overrated anyway. ;) Hehe. Pretty happy with our window, only let down that we sold Rafa and didn't get a proper replacement for Modric.

To be honest I think lots will still happen. Paperwork can be set up before 11 with negotiations still to go on.

Huddlestone not confirmed by either Spurs or Fulham yet might be official by the morning (just as an example)
