Just seen that SSN are saying we`re trying to get Remy.

Nothing on that one in France so far.

Marseille have sold a lot already.

They got that story by chance. They're following Joey Barton around and as they were there they were told by Marseille officials that levy is flying in today.

Pity - 10 large was excellent money

I take it you didn't see Gallas' performance on Saturday! The thought of selling Dawson and having to rely on that old man made my blood freeze! Very glad he's still with us for the time being.

Re: The summer transfer thread, Dembele pg 1277 #Levytime

I see. Remy would be a fantastic signing.

but not on the right hand side of a front 3? not even if it's

---------------Remy-------------------------------------------------Bale-
-----------------------------Adebayor------------------------------------

Kaboul would be ahead of Gallas, mate

Re: The summer transfer thread, Dembele pg 1277 #Levytime

Where he plays is where he's told to play in that specific formation by a manager who wants to utilise him in a
specific manner.

This is gold, so you can confidently state he is an AM, despite a professional football manager seeing him as best used in CM and despite the player himself saying he is now a CM. You know better than them? Even despite the fact he hasnt played AM for over half a season. And since vacating the AM position he has impressed the whole football world (more so than as AM) as a Central Midfielder.

What is your wisdom based upon? What he USED to be and do? Where he was, possibly, poorly utilised in the past?

Do you want to take a bet he will NOT play as deep-lying playmaker for us this season - at the very least no more than 50% of his games? If you are so confident (and right as ever) - surely you'd have nothing to lose? I'll keep stats of it and you can do so yourself

If that is indeed the case - I will happily admit to have been wrong

No need to be bitchty Arc.

I am confident because the way I see it it is not an opinion piece - its a fact. Dembele is a CM. Friedel is a GK. Adebayor is a Striker.

How its even become an argument is beyond me, its one of those "it just is what it is" things. He used to be an AM and now he is a CM.

Ive no interest in betting with you Arc, frankly I dont want to encourage your or engage in continued point scoring over a season.

I think we have a cracking CM player, and exciting prospect who will be great to watch. I think we have somone that presents options, as you say, and so will be a real boost to the side. You think differently? Fine. Lets just leave it there.

Millions spent on player transfers since Jan 2003

1. Chelsea 673
2. Emirates Marketing Project 572
3. Liverpool 414
4. Man United 352
5. Tottenham 350*
6. Arsenal 214
7. Aston Villa 201
8. Sunderland 187
9. Saudi Sportswashing Machine 174
10. Everton 129
11. West Ham 123
12. Wigan 110
13. Fulham 107
14. Portsmouth 100
15. Birmingham 92
16. Blackburn 87
17. Stoke 84
18. Bolton 76
19. Boro 71
20. West Brom 64

*My calculations are £368,676,000 spent by Spurs since January 2003.

But we have received £313,673,680 from players sold-on during the same period.

So only a net spend of just £55,002,320.

gonna try and capture Levy's jet on flightradar24.com and see where he's off to next!

bear in mind Ade goes to the right very often during games so the likelihood is Remy will come in centrally and find a lot of space at times. I mean if it's a typical front 3 where the RWF's and LWF's stay on their positions for the most part, i can understand why you'd think it won't work but if AVB instructs Remy and Ade to interchange during games it might be devastating.

Re: The summer transfer thread, Dembele pg 1277 #Levytime

What about 442? :-"

----------Sandro--Dembele
Lennon-----------------------Bale
---------Adebayor- Remy---------

We need goals.

Gallas done well until the big lad came on and took him to the cleaners, I am a fan of Dawson but Gallas is still our best CB imv.

No, never claimed as much either. It's just how one particular manager sees him and wants to utlisise him - nothing more / nothing less.

For example - if Bale went ot the Qatar Foundation - he'd be deployed as a wing-back, in the same mould as Alves, etc.

As for the rest - my offer still stands, plus I'm sure this argument will come up many times in the coming months so the inevitable re-ignition would occur in due course, as I'm sure you'll never let this die. (evil laugh) (smiley)

That could work, but you need to make sure the side is balanced aswell. Remy is not a winger.

I like it, only worry is that I think on the right hand side we've gone from Lennon-Corluka which was pretty solid to Lennon-Walker and now to a new WF (Remy/Willian) who may not help out enough defensively. This is fine if you have 3 solid CM with one helping out but with just Sandro/Parker holding it could be a problem..

It's a nice problem to have though, with the new signings I can sense a more versatile squad with plenty more options than the 4-4-1-1

Re: The summer transfer thread, Dembele pg 1277 #Levytime

At home:

-----------------Lloris
Walker---Kaboul--Vertonghen---Assou
Lennon- Sandro---Dembele-Bale
----------Remy----Adebayor

Away:

-------------LLoris
Walker---Kaboul---Vertonghen---Assou
--------------Parker-------------------
---------Sandro--Dembele-----------
----Remy-----Adebayor-------Bale

Re: The summer transfer thread, Dembele pg 1277 #Levytime

Surely in regard to Lloris' wages if he is going to be a key player for the next 5-10 years putting him on a good wage is fine. Also if you divide 320k by 31 and work out a weekly wage that way it's £72k per week. Also I would imagine that includes appearance bonuses etc.

Wait.. so 4-4-2 at home and 4-3-3 away? So we're going to play a more attacking game away from home?

notsureifserious...

Re: The summer transfer thread, Dembele pg 1277 #Levytime

Guys, I suspect this thread will be very busy over the next two days.

It's hard enough to trawl through as it is, but can we please try and keep it to pure transfer info/speculation/news and avoid the tactics and formation posts that seem to be dominating at the moment?

I know some of it is relevant, but please think of those not so frequent posters who pop in and out to try and pick up some info quickly, and don't want to wade through 10 pages of 4-4-2/4-3-3/ or whatever.

Thanks
