Re: 1060 pages and a striker, but 113 pages later no more Modric summer transfer thre

is it true that Mandanda has an £11m release clause in his contract?

Re: 1060 pages and a striker, but 113 pages later no more Modric summer transfer thre

Why are we discussing Mandanda? Can't you people just be happy with Lloris!

This thread is full of discussions about random players. There were about thirty posts about Alan Smith earlier FFS.

Re: 1060 pages and a striker, but 113 pages later no more Modric summer transfer thre

MK Dons have signed midfielder Jimmy Bullard on a short-term contract until the end of the year.

To be fair I would have expected Dembele to get rested anyway...

It's Dembele isn't it?

Damn, I'm good

Got a bad feeling we won't get the business done that we need to. Think we will get Lloris sorted but then we may be stuck with Defoe until Jan, and we just try and low-ball offers for Willian, Leandro and Moutinho and get none of them done. Or we sell Defoe and end up with Kevin Doyle.

defoe aint some 3rd rate striker mate

Former Chelsea star Didier Drogba returned to his old club on Tuesday amid mounting speculation the Ivorian could make a swift return to the Barclays Premier League.

Drogba's visit to Chelsea's Cobham training ground came after it emerged he and former Blues team-mate Nicolas Anelka could be sold by China's Shanghai Shenhua due to an escalating equity stake row among shareholders.

Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas is a fan of Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Douglas Costa but Spurs are yet to make an official offer, according to his agent.

The former Brazil Under-20 international has been attracting interest from across Europe this summer, with Serie A clubs Napoli and Roma thought to be keen.

The 21-year-old's agent, Cesar Bottega, claims Villas-Boas is an admirer of the former Gremio man but the North Londoners have not made any concrete approach.

He told calciomercato.it: "Villas-Boas appreciates Douglas Costa's qualities, although we have not received any official offer."

Fulham are another club being linked with the Brazilian but Bottega feels he may be out of the Cottagers' price range.

The agent added: "The club is not a great possibility economically, given we know the player's evaluation is around €18million (£14.3m)."

Close

Bottega claims Roma were close to signing Costa but the deal did not materialise, while talks have also been held with Napoli.

He said: "We have spoken several times with Napoli and we were close to Roma, who made an offer, but the deal didn't go through."

Bottega is also the agent of highly-rated Internacional striker Leandro Damiao, who was the subject of an unsuccessful bid from Tottenham, according to the club's president.

The Brazil international's representative believes he could still make a move to the Premier League despite his reported €25million (£19.9m) price tag, with big-spending champions Emirates Marketing Project having also been linked.

"He has been linked to several Premier League clubs, but it is difficult for him to leave Internacional because he is worth at least €25m," said Bottega.

"However, in England there are several teams that could pay that kind of money."

I would rather that we held onto Defoe until January. Any new striker coming into the team would be a risk and Defoe could be a useful back up option should they struggle to settle. I would also prefer us to have options to play different ways up front and one of those should be playing two up top, Defoe would be a good option in this plan b.

It's also highly likely to be a club or two desperate for a new striker by then. Maybe even willing to pay what Levy wants.

Can we start getting excited yet.. according to todays gossip we've apparently agreed deals with Dembele, Lloris, Willian AND somebody actually wants Jenas!

Re: 1060 pages and a striker, but 113 pages later no more Modric summer transfer thre

Who is Duncan Castles?

A common wum?

He supposedly has links or is on good terms with AVB. I've posted a couple of his articles earlier in this thread. He was fairly on the ball with information on Vertonghen/Sigurdsson. More recently he said as well as Adebayor we were going for another striker (he did mention Damiao specifically, this appears not to be the case anymore). Im inclined to believe he does have some idea of what is going on based on the stuff he has written previously but i'm pretty sure one or two on here arent as convinced.
