On here? He was massively rated for the season at Swansea. They want to buy him off us.
Were going to sign him, everyone chill out
Were you surprised?
If there's no deal to be made, then there's no deal to be made.
There aren't many players that are transfered for more than £10m when their contract is expiring after the coming season.
If our centre back pairing is Kaboul and Caulker next season then I'd be more than supportive of it.
depends on who those clubs are and what they have offered. This 1 year left on his contract is going to prevent most clubs from offering big money for Vertonghen
still, if Levy is being fcuked around then he is wise to walk away. Ajax dont tend to sell their players without extracting every last dime from the buyers
Why are some people slagging off Levy for penny pinching merely on the say so of some taco on Twitter?
I haven't got a clue whether the deal for Verthongen is nearly done or whether it is off altogether. Neither do the twitterers. So stop getting your knickers in a twist! Let's wait until we do know what's going on.
No one' s knickers are in a twist just feel levy sometimes thinks he can get every player on the cheap.
Want a clubs player pay the asking price.
Negotiate by all means but do you go hard at it at the risk of missing out on signings over 1-2 million?
Them come last day of window go around making silly bids for players as we are desperate.
Speaking as somebody who can afford to throw away 1-2 million?
If every player is 1-2 million cheaper, you can spend another 5-10 million every five deals... 1-2 million is hardly a small amount of money...
Why is everyone getting so excited about a defender. Surely our first priority MUST be the forwards. We kept a huge amount of clean sheets last year. Not too much wrong with the defence and when everyone is fit we have plenty of centre halves. The real problem we have is scoring goals. Lets get some quality strikers in first PLEASE Levy. Currently a disaffected Defoe is the only one we have on the books.
Not as football transfers go ?
Past 3 seasons we have spent very little on transfers ? So to miss out over a million or so seems daft that's all..
Look at the money we have wasted on wages of fringe players etc
You've just pointed out why we can't afford to spend that extra 1-2 million. We haven't managed to get rid of our fringe players.
Not as football transfers go? Our income last season was ?ú160m ish. You would be happy to throw 1% of that away instead of trying to do a better deal for the club? Nonsensical.
Not as football transfers go? So as Chelsea and Emirates Marketing Project are throwing money around so should we? Arsenal and Man united make far more then us yet they will still attempt to buy players for less.
Just because we have not spent in the past three seasons, does not mean there was money to spend. Show me the financial figures that prove that it is there.
Look all my point is if we miss out on this then was it worth missing out over 1-2 mill it's a matter of opinion and mine is its not !

If Caulker's good enough, he's old enough.
Nothing more to be said in my opinion you have your view I have mine.If it is all in keeping with the financial well being of the club, then yes. Yes it is.
Plus that 1-2 million extra might mean missing out on another player elsewhere.
There are too many variables that we do not know to make these kind of judgements.
Edit: I was trying to debate your opinion. If it is your opinion, and you were not going to try to debate it, then what did you gain by posting it? Just curious.
