The idea that we could/would sign Llorente is preposterous. Seriously people....

What price are SkySports saying that Bassong will go for? Would be a good move for him and a good move for us. Thinking about it more, price is almost irrelevant as we'd just loan him out again otherwise and he'd be another year nearer the end of his contract

I think we could afford his wages though (£80K p/w would pretty much double his current wages if I remember some previous reports correctly) so the only stumbling block would be the player wanting to go to a CL club....which he has mentioned....so....okay I agree with you.

A lot of people said the same about Falcao coming to us before he joined the mighty Athletico... Who are pretty much the Spanish Spurs.

Stoke express interest in midfielder

Huddlestone, who missed most of last season through injury, has been informed he will be allowed to go out on loan to get some regular first-team football under his belt.

The England international underwent two ankle operations last seasons with his last game for Spurs coming against Emirates Marketing Project last August.

Huddlestone is now back to fitness and played on Spurs' pre-season tour of America, but it appears he is down the pecking order at White Hart Lane.

Huddlestone was left out of the squad for last weekend's opening day defeat at Saudi Sportswashing Machine and Andre Villas-Boas is happy to let the former Derby man go out on loan.

The 25-year-old is keen to go out on loan so that he can regain his match sharpness after his spell on the sidelines and a number of clubs are chasing his signature.

Stoke are thought to be at the front of the queue for Huddlestone with Tony Pulis keen to bring in a creative spark to his midfield.

Its not that though, its the fee. I know there are some reports in the Italian press about a low-ish fee in the teens (or Euros) however I would be amazed if Bilbao let their local hero again for less than £20m - £25m....which we wont pay
 
Developments...Bids came in last night for DAWSON. From QPR, Stoke and Sunderland. This is the transfer window, changes at the drop of a hat. QPR and Stoke accepted.

As much as I'm ok with anyone not in AVBs plans to be shipped out for decent fees (or anything for Bentley/Jenas!) it does make me nervous when there's no incomings yet.. Let's hope some are far enough down the line to happen before the madness of deadline day.
 
So the overnight stuff is more on outs than ins.

I hold hopes for Caulker as a CB of the future, but still have to ask whether Caulker is already 4th choice CB ahead of Dawson. I'd like to see him play a few games in our first team before shipping Dawson off.

The comments made by AVB did refer to Dawson as captain material (as someone posted), but there was also another qualifying part hinting that he might not still be here. He said the decision will be made when the transfer window closes, Dawson is Tottenham and someone with the qualities to be captain, and we will have to see who is still here when the window closes.

Loaning Huddlestone out to gain fitness makes no sense. I'm not even sure he can be loaned to a PL club just until January (they changed the rules when dealing with the third party influence stuff). If he is not in AVB's plans he will be sold or loaned if that is not possible, but I can't see a loan just to gain fitness and then him returning. It makes more sense to learn the new system while regaining fitness than to come back a fully fit stranger.

The Independent and Guardian were already stating this around midnight last night on their websites, but thanks for regurgitating it for us POTL perhaps some will continue to believe you are ITK.
