Son Heung-Min

Schurrle hasn't really done well on his return to Germany - I'd be wary of signing him on his reputation from a few seasons ago and also of writing Son off after only a season.

I'd like to have both. Very different but potentially complimentary players

I'd like to see how Son gets on tbh. He's been in and out since the injury and looked an asset in the last few games (bar Saudi Sportswashing Machine). Obviously wasn't fit enough, but I'm hoping he'll be fully integrated next season and get 10+ goals in the league.

I find it hard to believe Poch would bin him based on the Newcaarle game. He looked decent first half against Soton and certainly had as good a game if not better than others. Unless there has been something fundamentally wrong in his attitude in training post injury which I can't imagine, I would like to think he will get the benefit of another season. Only possible problem I can see is if, due to his injury last season, Poch wants him to have a full pre season but he wants to play in the Olympics. Maybe there's a conflict of priorities.

Schurle is probably even weaker/lazier than Chadli apparently. Apparently the Wolfsburg fans are sick of him and would be happy to see the back of him...
Maybe @Armchair Expert can give us his view on this...
Schurrle has been a complete and utter disaster at Wolfsburg. Total flop. Took him about 30 games or something ridiculous to score his first goal. He is lightweight, terrible in front of goal and his confidence looks shot to pieces - possibly permanently. Wolfsburg fans would be dancing in the streets if we did a swap deal. He's absolute brick imo. Really part of the reason VFL had such an abject and dismal season.

Anyone suggesting this deal simply doesnt watch Bundesliga football. Son has been 10x the player in Germany Schurrle has, and simply on this seasons performances for their respective clubs was a country mile better. I think Schurrle scored like three league goals all season? Can anyone tell based on this season what they have seen in Schurrle that would make them want to bring him to the club? Because to me he looked one of the worst players in a mid-table Bundesliga club that struggled to create all season long.

I saw them live a couple of times (Wolfsburg is near Hannover, where i spend half my time when not in Amsterdam) and he was pathetic both times. Fans booing him and applauding his substitution. Hecking's support of Schurrle lost him loooooads of good will from the fans (the few that turn up).

^Woflsburg are in 3rd place right?
Ended up 8th. But they beat Hamburg away then Stuttgart home last two of the season. Before that they were in danger of finishing around 12th. They never threatened the European places all season, despite the likes of Mainz and Hertha being in and around there. They were total brick to be completely fair.

it maybe that Poch wants rid of Chadli and Son, and Son would be easier to shift.

Chadli is proven in the PL and the right age. Proven goalscorer too from wide/attacking midfield. I think mid-table PL clubs would be lining up around the block for him if we want rid.

Impossible to know what Pochettino thinks about Son. Very happy to see him given at least another season myself.

Yep, Chadli easier to shift in the PL, Son easier to shift in the BL.

Top man, thank you AE. That should put this one to bed. Vital to have proper information amongst all the blowhards and spouters.

I'd be surprised if Son was sold because it would be quite strange for Poch to give his backing to Lamela, who was there before Poch, and yet ship out someone who was not only brought by Poch but has debatedly shown more promise in his first season then Lamela.

Actually the more i think of it, makes me question my own comments. From memory, Chadli was one of the cheaper acquisitions.
So the chances of recouping some of that dough are quite high.
That said, I would definitely fck Chadli off, a bigger bully than Defoe ever was.

I agree with this.

Coincidentally I do see the need for Son to improve on the same weaknesses that Lamela had to improve on. Ball retention, physicality and moving the ball on quicker. It bodes well that Lamela has undergone this transformation but a little more worrying Poch can't get inside Chadli's head and get him to fully commit to the 'philosophy'.
