Son Heung-Min

He had 15 touches in 60 minutes

When he is interested he can be effective

When he isn't, he is a passenger
Considering that he seems to take about 3 touches just to get the ball under control that is rather poor. ;)

I guess he is still coming to terms with the pace and power of the Premier League and having to play in a few different positions probably also hasn't helped him. Hopefully we'll see a better player next season. He is probably the least effective of all our attacking midfielder players currently, but it's still early days for him in England.

My comment was about Chadli

Not a fair deal, IMO. Son wouldn't miss any of our games for the international matches in March. Whereas he will be unavailable for us for the first few week(s) of the next season if he goes to the Olympics (as others have pointed out).

They don't have to offer us a fair deal.

if its 3 touches every time he had the ball, would that still be a good stat?
i.e. he got on the ball every 12 minutes in 60.

I think these stats are "involvements" rather than actual touches.

One important thing to remember is Son is 23, so still has some developing to as well as adapting to the PL
That and a very different, very 'foreign' culture / language etc. It's hard for us to get our heads around just how demanding it can be for some players. It took Modric a season or more to really find his form and look how brilliant he turned out to be.

I actually think he has adapted to the culture like a duck to water

Asian players have that in them like no others

The pace do the league is similar but is clearly more competitive too

He started great and has hardly been poor IMO

He has played a key role in some games and less in others which is not unreasonable

People can look at the fee but forget that to get and eriksen or Alli now it would actually cost more than what we paid for son.

He was great to start with but has been below par since returning from injury. It's his first season and I'm sure that with a decent pre-season and good levels of fitness he'll be a much better player for us next season.

This guy was fantastic at Bayer, to the point where even considering the possibility of getting him seemed to me to be a waste of time: why would a player as productive as Son come to us from a CL side? He'd cost a lot, he would probably want high wages, we don't have CL, so it isn't realisti.....

Bam! And suddenly, it happened, just like that.

I was utterly delighted when it ended up happening so quickly, and I'm still happy it happened today, despite his admitted struggles to acclimatize to the league. To my mind, these are the sorts of signings (Toby, Son et al) we should be making as statements of intent, and there's certainly no doubting his quality or innate value in terms of age, profile and skill. So why we would sell him now, or even judge him after a relatively sub-par season, is beyond me. Having signed him, after all, it behooves us to give him a real good shot.

Just to say a good goal from him yesterday and caused their CBs all sorts of problems, esp with his running in the first half.
Sadly ran out of steam a little in the second half, but i think he'll be a key squad member next year

There were a few moments where you just knew that it was his first season in the league. He got robbed of the ball a couple of times and wanted more touches than he was going to get, exactly like Lamela in his first year. On the plus side, his goal was great and you can see that he has the ability to score plenty of goals. It's good that we have 4 players to sit behind Kane who all look like they can be swapped about without us losing too much. One more like them and we will be fine for the next season.

I think he's still settling in to the change of pace from the Bundesliga to the Premier League, hopefully next season he will be more up to pace and will play a bigger part in our success.
