Son Heung-Min

Well with all the pelters i got for my opinion it feels pretty good to sit here patting myself on the back. The guy has never been top tier at anything other than goal scoring. Take that away from him and he isn’t really that good.

Please forgive my sleep deprived toddler state of being, but, but, but, you think Son, full name Son Heung-Min isn't really that good, because you discount his goals record? Are you Adrian Durham in disguise?
This season being a large exception, Son is without question one of the stand out footballers in Europe over the last five years. He scores goals with both feet, inside and outside the box, he contributes to Tottenham overall system by being a fast paced and dynamic outlet, and he does it all with zero baggage, a smile on his face and a salary that while considerable is not greedy or excessive.

If I had a glove I'd smack you in the face with it and demand satisfaction sir.

Let's also remember he is part of the highest scoring/assisting combo in Premier League history too.

that combo seems broken this season. up to conte to restore that working relationship, if he is not to stubborn trying to prove something else can work (this season so far, it hasn't)

looks like stelini fixed it !

son getting the ball at speed with space to run into - high chance of scoring.

perisic on the left kane in the box...son can't do much as he is not a close control slow-build up type players

kane around the centre circle hold up play - its like the end of last season again that helped son get the golden boot.

perhaps richy and kane starting makes sense with son coming on fresh when everyone is tired.

Think it was a coincidence rather than Stellini or anyone fixing anything. Game state suited him and us. Was just a long clearance that Kane did well (and a bit lucky) to get control over. Could have happened in any game. Kane wasn't particularly deep. Wing back wouldn't be anywhere near that situation anyway.

Will be interesting to see if Son starts against Chelsea having gotten the goal, probably will.

I think we have an issue with Kane and Son. What was "fixed" was playing Richarlison who played with more intensity, more work rate, though also limited with his back to goal he's a bit stronger physically.

Definitely wouldn't mind seeing more of Richarlison starting, Son coming on when legs are tiring and space opens up a bit more.

There’s an argument to be made for bringing him on against Chelsea. However, as much as I like Richarlison, he still hasn’t scored a league goal for us yet. Granted he hasn’t had a run in the side, but he hasn’t scored off the bench either whereas 4 of Son’s 5 league goals have come off the bench. Everyone knows he’s not had a good season at all, but I don’t think any of us would be surprised if he scored say 10 more goals down the stretch which takes him to 15 for the season which is very respectable considering he’s has arguably his worst season for us since we signed him.

It seemed to me that we retained the ball much better around the opposition's box than usual, thanks to Richie and Kulu scampering around. Also winning the ball high up the pitch.

It's fair to say that Richarlison isn't as deadly as an in-form Sonny...but then, there aren't many in world football who are. But I do think he gives us a good option to rough up defenders -- Kane used to do that but not any more. Then on comes Son to finish the job.

I wonder if Kulu's poor first half was due to having Richarlison on the other side of pitch rather than Son? Change in patterns and all that. But it may just be that he's still catching up after a while out injured. He definitely seemed back to his usual self in the second half.

I think Son is probably more likely to score.

I think Richarlison is more likely to help us play better as a team, making it slightly less likely that they score and slightly more likely that someone else scores for us.

I'm guessing that Son being Son and first choice along with him scoring against West Ham means that he starts. But wouldn't really mind either decision.

I hope we see a return to Son scoring regularly soon.

Poor bloke getting online abuse again, hope they find and string up the cnuts

Leaving the race element out of it which is just beyond comprehension.

As much as I hate rSol, and I do, it wouldn't occur to me to go on his social media and abuse him. It's mind boggling that so many people think it's okay to have a go at people in the public eye like this.

Vermin.

The vast majority of them wouldn't do it in real life face to face, so why do they think it's ok to do it behind a keyboard when it's no different?

If people were more open-minded and actually went out to try other cuisines, it can be a nice gateway into another culture. Korean food is phenomenal! If these cavemen neanderthals beating rocks together actually took some time to try Korean BBQ, their tiny brains would expand ever so slightly. This is of course hopeful and perhaps a little naive knowing just how deep the brain-rot is in some people, but in the long-term, if people try to break away from this institutionalized thinking of "the other" and just learn to see people for what they are on the inside, there may be some small chance for a few people to wake up a bit.

Although I also want to say that any person taking stock in what strangers on the internet say should learn how not to give a fudge IMO. There's far too many bricky opinions out there as it is and social media just amplifies this effect. Obviously I don't condone it and it's up to social media platforms to actually police the cretins using their services, but ultimately, the opinions of insectoids on twitter are exactly that: chatterings of brain-dead, morally-bankrupt individuals. I'm hoping players that suffer abuse can just brush it off knowing that they're lions being screeched at by tiny fleas.

Would be good to get the opinions of other Asians here on how they deal with abuse, whether it's in-person or on the internet.

Son and Rashford are quite similar, and Rashford struggled for over a year with the same issues as Son. Neither are very good receiving the ball under pressure, with their backs to the goal, but both have faced long periods where they've been played in a way that they received the ball predominantly in that way. This causes loss of confidence, which affect their overall gameplay as well.

Both Son and Rashford need the ball to be played into space FOR them, not TO them. Just look at yesterday's goals from both of them. Rashford has had an incredible upturn in form since united started playing to his strengths again.
Let's hope we can replicate it with Son.

That's fine when you play against teams that have a high line and not 11 behind the ball.

There's always a way. Not every attack, but there are always ways of exploiting space, and we've managed to do it previous seasons, and occasionally this season.

Big difference; Son's not a clam.
