Son Heung-Min

There is no doubt (imo) that he has been really poor his season, maybe time has caught up with him but he seems to be a player on his way down ( i know he is only 30).

The possession one is shocking, didn’t realise it was that bad. On XG, is that really his fault?

What were Kane’s and Kulusevski’s XG stats much better?

XG is a load of b0llox anyway, invented to make twitter cnuts sound like Pep

Son has been poor, 100% and would benefit from being dropped for more than one reason. Would also benefit Richarlison getting some time

If Conte will do that is another thing

Amen to that.

Won't change formation or personnel when things are poor?. That doesn't make him a football manager - it makes him a purchasing manager.

I told everyone, take away the goals and he is a below average player. My point has been proven time and time again this season. He shouldn’t be in the pitch.

Goals are what you pay megabucks for. You don't get golden boot and be called a below average player.

But i agree that Son isn't doing well and something needs to be done.

Intriguing to me as Son did well last Season's Conte but can't now. I believe that he still has it in him and needs fast paced counter attacking football to thrive. All out attacking, no defending role. Will be sad to see Son do that in another team, if Conte doesn't improve the quality of football that we have.

Well with all the pelters i got for my opinion it feels pretty good to sit here patting myself on the back. The guy has never been top tier at anything other than goal scoring. Take that away from him and he isn’t really that good.

You don’t get to criticise him week in week out last season when he won the golden boot and then say you were right all along when he’s having a bad season. You were 100% wrong last season, wrong wrong wrong. You couldn’t have been any more wrong if you had tried. No other combination in the history of the PL has more goal contributions than Kane & Son which proves he contributes more than just goals but you have this idea that Kane & Son are somehow solely responsible whenever we lose but it’s nothing to do with our porous defence gifting goals for fun.

Its also a really odd thing to say....especially when you moan about the quality of Spurs, to almost wish a player fails just to be proven right? I am more convinced each day that this bloke is a troll.

Me and a mate of mine were talking about these types of fans over a pint the other day, there are loads on twitter and who have youtube channels who just keep trotting out the negative brick, are wrong for 90% of the time but then bathe in this weird glory against your supposedly own side when it goes wrong.

Just frankly a weird attitude

What a macaronic thing to trot out

Honestly, so regardless of what the bloke has done for the club, 139 Goals and 77 assists (Only gets goals though right) you are going to celebrate the fact that a great servant of the club is having a tough time of it just because you think you are now vindicated in slating the bloke season on season?

You're abit of a top hat TBH

We all like to be right, but not at the expense of the team being successful. I’m not a fan of Eric Dier for example or any other our defenders with the exception of Romero but if Dier made a game saving tackle in the FA cup or Champions League final and we went on to win the game I’d be over the moon.

He said Son didn’t play that well when he got a hat trick at Villa park last season. And that he only gets goals when we’re already winning despite getting the winner against Emirates Marketing Project and our only goal when we got a point at Anfield.

I haven't been a fan of Emerson or PEH but want them to do well as it means we do better, this who hiding behind the bushes wanting to jump out and say "I was right" when things go wrong is just really odd and you see it so much around the game these days.

I have never wished a player to do bad to prove a point, i was only pointing out that there was substance to my opinion that everyone shot down. I would love to see Son on top form as it helps the team but surely if you are not scoring you have to add something to the team? Take away the goals and what does he bring? When Kulu is not scoring he brings assists, he brings fight (maybe not the last game) and overall great team play, unfortunately when Son is not scoring he brings nothing to the team. He should have been dropped months ago.

The problem with our squad is we have too many players with limited qualities that when they are not doing what they are good at are bang average at everything else. Dier is another, can look very good in certain situations but when it comes to his overall ability he can’t adapt to playing to what the team needs and we have loads of them like that.

Not rating or liking a player is fine. But it’s been pointed out many times that he gets assists, not many this season but during his career he has been in the top 10 for assists on more than one occasion. You just refuse to believe it for some reason, as if you think we are making it up.

I love the "he does nothing but score goals" like thats a bad thing anyway, albeit he is wrong about it anyway. No one is doubting he has had a bad year, absolutely, but anyone discounting his time with us with such b0llox are just churning out an agenda TBH

Abit people were not smugly patting themselves on the back about his lack of ability when he terrorised City in the CL singlehanded.

I know stats like xG are controversial, but I think people misinterpret/misunderstand them. Because of this, some people can trot the stats out if they have an agenda or point to prove, taking advantage of other people's ignorance of xG, which then in turn leads people to deride it as useless.

xG is basically a way to measure the particular difficult of finishing opportunities. xG can be low due to taking speculative efforts into a wall of defenders, and/or having very few chances to begin with. Everyone on the team had low xG except Bentancur. The problem with Son wasn't that his xG was low (Kane and Kulu had equally low xG), it's that we're not creating chances to begin with. Out of 11 shots, 4 were on target, 1 of which resulted in a goal. The story of xG here tells us that we had a total of 1.17 expected goals, and that's more or less what we ended up with.

The flipside of this is that Leicester had an xG of 1.42, but ended up with 4 goals. They scored goals they should not have, so from their perspective, they did really well. From our perspective, however, we did quite poorly.

At the end of the day, Leicester created clear-cut chances while we created none. Our assist for the goal came off their player, so it was a bit of a gift in that regard but Bentancur still had to do the work and put the ball away. Basically, I feel like this sums up our season. The real surprise to me is that as poor as we have been, we're doing alright in terms of the table, but are struggling in some degree like Liverpool and Chelsea.

i still think Son is a victim of conte's tactics. anyway if we can't get goals from him we might as well sell him and recoup some cash. love the guy and would like to see him excel even if it means somewhere else. i am sure he will enjoy playing and fast paced, direct counter attacking teams
will be fun to see him up against fall-back-and-freeze dier.

I think the pressure of being his national poster boy and being one of our dynamic duo is catching up with him.
Did i also read that after winning the golden boot his dad said he still wasn't showing his real potential, or words to that effect? That must be a real slap in the face.

Poor again last night, its becoming a regular thing seeing him stuggle and i do feel sorry for him However i really do think that he should be left on the bench and Richarlson given a run now he is fit.

So many of us have been saying this for ages now. Although for some reason, I felt like last night he wasn't letting the team down... things just weren't connecting in attack with all our players. Kulusevski seems to not be playing well either. Conte doesn't mind rotating some players but others are untouchable, seemingly.

His father said he doesn't consider Son to be world class. Maybe meant to push him to reach new heights. Hard to say if that had any effect, but Korean/Asian culture is a bit more strict and demanding, especially from a disciplinarian like Son's dad. (source: my mom is Korean).
