Son Heung-Min

Said it a few months ago, and I hope to GHod I’m wrong, he’s lost a half a yard and it’s fatal for him. He had a chance towards the edge of their box which he eventually gave to Kane in an offside position. Peak Sonny gets a shot away there and possibly scores. It was like he just couldn’t adjust to do it.

I hope I’m wrong. I love the fella to bits but I fear the worst for him. Incidentally, I thought he was better than Kane and Kulu today who were both absolutely terrible.

It was a simple pass to play Kane in 1 on 1 with the keeper, instead he took about 10 touches and waited till Kane was offside before passing.
We might as well be starting with 10 men as starting with him.

100%…. His touch for me is all over the place and has been all season. But today I thought he also bottled at least one challenge when it was 60/40 in his favour, and he wasn’t busting a gut to get back when he’d fkd up.

Signs perhaps that he needs a new challenge. He hasn’t looked that happy all season. He’s 30 and can probably now feel his career ticking away.

Wouldn't be half the problem it is with good management. The one game he was dropped he came on and scored a hat trick.

He's not gonna do that every time but rotate, you've got the players so do it. Dunno why managers who come to Spurs refuse to make changes, seems to have been that way since Poch, see something isn't working, do nothing for 70+ minutes.

Lack of balls maybe
Danjuma should have been on at half time for sonny

If the same problems keep arising over different managers maybe it's time to look beyond the manager.
Jose and conte are managers well known for making the tough decisions, until they came to spurs.

Mourinho regularly made early subs when he was here and dropped players who weren't performing.

Conte is actually well known for being someone who sticks with the team he considers his first choice and only rotating/dropping anyone from that core when forced in to a corner (injuries/suspension)

Conte has turned around numerous games this season - it’s nonsense to suggest that he waits for 70 minutes. Bournemouth, Marseilles, Sporting, Leeds, Liverpool as some examples off the top of my head.

Changing things isn’t always about subs and fans sometimes get hung up on that.

Son lost possession 14 times mate. Fourteen!

Two of them ultimately led to leicester goals.

For the most part they weren’t even trying to take someone on in an attacking area. They were mostly him receiving the ball deep and either instantly losing it or instead of passing he tries to dribble around randomly in his own half and loses it. It is beyond incredible how often he did that yesterday and he does it so so often in other games.

He should now play central striker or no role at all as he is breathtakingly shocking at anything else.

Yesterday he also had an XG of 0.04.

That isn’t a typo. I didnt mean to type 0.4.

It was 0.04!

The possession one is shocking, didn’t realise it was that bad. On XG, is that really his fault?

What were Kane’s and Kulusevski’s XG stats much better?

Maybe he should play in the role he has excelled in his entire career. Which, if I recall correctly, is on the left, receiving the ball on the move towards the goal. But hey, as long as Antonio gets to play his rigid system every game who are we to complain?

It's nothing to do with Contes system. He played in it last year with no issues and won the golden boot. No matter the system he should still be able to control a ball and play simple passes.

Nothing has changed since last season apart from his performance levels.

Someone posted this is match thread.

Not sure on Kane and Kulu’s stats. Kulu was poor but I thought Kane at least worked hard and did a couple of decent passes from deep. Yep that was how low the bar was yesterday.

Yeah. And most of the time when he plays with his back to goal he is pants. A lot of his goals came from different phases of play when he was allowed to do what he’s good at.

He's had plenty of those opportunities this season and fudged them all up. Only good performance from him has come playing up front.

It doesn't matter if he has his back to goal or if he has space to run into, he's been useless at both. What impact did playing with his back to goal have with taking 10 touches to control the ball and not being able to make a simple quick 5 yard pass to Kane? Or what about against City when the ball was played to him around the half way line and he had half a pitch to run into (which is when he's at his best according to you), but took about 5 seconds to get the ball under control and allowed Grealish to get back and take the ball off him? Was Contes system the reason he was crap at the world cup?
