John Lacy
More a case of poor scouting and a lack of understanding as to we needed. Soldado was a low percentage finisher, but at Valencia especially the season before we bought him he got a lot of chances per game so it wasn't such a problem. He then joined a Spurs team that had no creativity, no passers and no tempo. He went from getting 5+ quality Chan es a match to barely 1 with us and it ate away at his confidence. The move was always doomed for failure. We needed a link man or a forward who could keep the ball and play it himself. Basically a Kane. There is no guarantee that more expensive player would have worked though.
Look at Soldado, on paper a sure thing.
