Son Heung-Min

None of this makes sense. Sonny's the ultimate team player - he must know he's been rubbish, and I'm sure would take being dropped the right way. His dad's probably been telling him daily!

As I've said before, I love the guy. So must everyone else on here. He's got money in the bank as far as I'm concerned. Do I want rid? Nope. I just want him benched until he sorts his head out or whatever. Richi, Gil, even Perisic should be given a chance. 'Cos at the moment, the gaping chasm at LW is hurting us.
I think that’s what weighs heaviest on him
He knows how his play is costing the team and it gets worse and worse
That’s a hell of a mental drain

It'd be really great if we could actually let Sonny play HIS game as opposed to this other one he's being asked to play. He is NOT a back-to-goal deep-dropping forward. And the reason he is having to do this more and more now is because Conte's 3-4-3 system in our club has been sussed, so we cannot play like we did last season. No wonder his confidence is shot. No wonder he's also knackered!!! He absolutely needs a break but not necessarily all on him at all.

It's not all on him. But he was successful last season under Conte.

City put out an 18 year old at right back. He's probably a very talented 18 year old, certainly looked it. But at least cause him some real problems.

I get that he's not very good in those back to goal situations. I get that he's not very good if things get crowded or there's a need for quick combination play.

But there have been quite a few situations in recent months where previous Son would have thrived. I get that getting into those situations less frequently can hurt a player's confidence. Even someone as accomplished as Son. But still, this drop in form to me at least looks a bit different.

I can only hope he regains his mojo. Along with the rest of the team. But right now it's a frustrating wait.

No! It's that evil Mr. Conte!

Can you please define what you meant by 'He doesn’t do anything'?

Nobody on here, I hope, would say Son has had anything other than a terrible season, but he runs his gonad*s off every game, and has played through recovery fro a nasty facial injury, and been to the World Cup.

So when you say 'He doesn’t do anything' people will comment about what Son does. And again, he has been like a pub player who has won a competition compared to his usual standards.
He walks around like Kane and only comes to life when the ball is played to him. He offers nothing defensively and is 1 of the reason we can’t keep the ball and keep giving it back. He shouldn’t be starting games.

'walks around like Kane''? You are either blind or do not know the definition of the word 'walk'. One thing Son cannot be accused of is not running his gonads off. I doubt anyone on here would say he's had anything other than a dreadful season but you appear to have some poison in your veins for him, and for Kane.

Starting again it seems... it's not like I don't want him to score but he really needs a break, and it sends the wrong message to the squad. Conte did perform a miracle last season to get top-4 but I feel like we all are suffering this season in order to pay our "miracle debt."

Teams sussed our 3-4-3. Now it is a battle of will and application. The tactical side which allowed Sonny to face forwards far more has disappeared. I counted close to a half-dozen times he received the ball tonight, back to goal, 35 yards outside our box with two defenders immediately on him and no-one else close. On one of the rare moments he received the ball going forward towards their box, he linked with Kane for an assist.

I don’t think anyone disagrees he’s had a drop in form and could do with a break. But add the above to his fractured eye socket, pressure from the World Cup, and increased off-field activities surrounding his own branding, and the factors are clear. I think when Richy is fully fit we’ll see Sonny get a rest.

And how many of us thought he should slip the pass left to Perisic, in acres of space, instead of heading into traffic? And given how this season his touch has been horrific, he made that simple pass to give Kane the tap in.

I know it wasn't a tap in.

I love Son but it was a nothing pass. Kane made it something.
