Serious relegation fears

Just imagine, we would be 1 point ahead of Leicester now if we had beaten them at home ! That one-on-one chance that Kane missed against Leicester from the inch-perfect Lamela pass looks more and more unforgivable now ! Kane had all the time in the world to round the goalie but chose to hit straight at the goalie who deflected onto the post. We would have won that match had Kane scored that !

All this woulda coulda shoulda is past. Even if we had won Leicester, we might have drawn/lost another one. Focus on the battle in front. The time for after action reviews is after the action. This season is still a brilliant season even if we finish second. Lets focus on doing the job vs. West Brom. One game at a time ...

Heaven forbid Kane misses - he needs to score more !!!

We Lost that game because we didnt defend a corner well enough. Hell we even took our own players out. We were still the better side by some way but it happens. It's all about what happens from now on

Just don't like the finger pointing targeted to a player especially this season where actually the effort of the lads is clear to see

Definitely - anyone looking for someone to 'blame' needs their head testing afaic

It's a shame we started slowly. Had
We started the way we have played the majority of the season we would be the ones being chased.

I still daren't believe we can win it this season......but next season I think we are favourites.

We now cannot be overtaken by 13 clubs.

Alphabetically, latest highlighted :-

Aston Villa
Bournemouth
Chelsea
Crystal Palace
Everton
Saudi Sportswashing Machine
Norwich City
Southampton
Stoke City
Sunderland
Swansea City
Watford
West Bromwich Albion
Pro tem, simply where any club is out of reach.

We have now qualified for European football too. As West Ham play United they both cant pick up maximum points so we cannot finish lower than 6th, unless we concede 20 goals in our last 4 matches!

It's annoying, isn't it? There's no telling how things would've looked now if we won that match though. Maybe we'd top for a while and crumble under pressure. No point crying over spilled milk.

Exactly. Sometimes it can be an advantage being the chaser not the chased.

Also it sounds daft but it we are to finish 2nd I sometimes think it might be better if we finish 7pts behind than 2 or 3pts, otherwise we would always be thinking. What if?

Would be nice to get a little favour off Stoke today or even better Sunderland tomorrow, but cant see getting either.

City playing Arsenal is a great match for us and you would think as both cant get maximum points we probably just need 4pts or even 3 for 3rd.
Such a shame this game doesnt kick off before our home match v Southampton. That could well be a happy day in our side of North London ;)

Looking back it can be seen that the slow start, though unfortunate, was probably an unavoidable part of the incredible journey we were on to get where we are now.

Among the problems Poch had to deal with as a result of those early hiccoughs were an out-of-form Bentaleb and a painfully-misfiring Townsend. As has been pointed out elsewhere it was to an extent their errors that were costing us early on. Sometimes you just have to wait for the problems to show up before you can fix them.

But their exclusion was just the continuation of an organic process whereby Poch was gradually identifying and discarding players who turned out not to be the best fit for the system he wanted to operate. Others were Fazio, Chiriches, Kaboul, Stambouli, Paulinho, Capoue, Adebayor and Soldado. When you look back you realise what a brilliant job he has done in moving them all on and bringing in or moulding top class replacements to create the magnificent team we have now.

If's, But's and maybes, the games full of them and its the same for every club.

Seriously man, you can't put the words "Kane" and "unforgivable" in the same sentence.

I know it's just hyperbole but it sounds very entitled and ungrateful when you roll out words like that.

We didn't really have a slow start though, did we? We were outplaying our opponents from the start of the season, just weren't clinical enough. We still weren't clinical enough 3/4 of the season in, but at least we figured out how not to give up leads.

WTF are the bars supposed to show???
X-axis is number of points, Y-axis is the probability of finishing on that many points, based on Caley's statistical models. And the number atop each bar is the probability of winning the title if we finish on that many points.

For example, Spurs have roughly an 18% chance of finishing on 78pts and, if we did, we'd have a 41% chance of being crowned champions.

If you go over to Michael Caley's Twitter feed, you'll find some explanation. The model predicts game outcomes based on the number and quality of chances each team creates and concedes, running every match left in the season and adding it all up. Obviously, it's only a model, but it's interesting stuff.

Caley also features on www.cartilagefreecaptain.com, which is worth a read.
