Roberto Soldado

Re: Official - Soldado

No, he was put through and fluffed it.

By the way Scara, the ball that Townsend put on a plate for Soldado, that a chance created or not? :-k

Re: Official - Soldado

No Billy...he was toilet water. Missed a complete sitter and also failed to control the most basic pass when put through. He did score though.

no offence intended KD but you seem to be reveling in every negative aspect of the guys performances for us whilst totally ignoring anything positive. was he great today? no - was he awful? no - he missed a few chances but put a difficult reaction effort in and there was some good play between him and Kane/Townsend, setting both(?) up for good goal scoring chances. but no let's just focus on those missed chances and a bit of miss control (which many players were guilty of today btw)

Re: Official - Soldado

He does, at least, get chances. I just wish he was more clinical, which is exactly the reason we bought him. He seems to lash at every chance he gets, just smashes them at the keeper or over the bar.

I think he needs a sports-shrink as much as anything.

It's a confidence thing. Nothing more IMO.

It's like Jermain never left us ... at least he could create the odd chance for himself though.

This .. said it before, really hope Poch gives him some of the crappy early round CC/Europa games, let him bang in a few, even if it's off his ass.

5 or 6 goals (similar to JD's early run last season) could make all the difference for the guy.

Re: Official - Soldado

The problems are all in his head. He just needs to calmly but firmly slot them home, but he always panics.

Seems he can only score rebounds or tricky chances or deflections - any clear chance gets scuffed wide or over or at the keeper or at a teammate or hits a squirrel or the dog stole his homework

No offence Billy but you're not quite understanding that we forked out 26m (or whatever high price) for a supposed top quality striker who is meant to finish off basic chances. He put effort in? this would be acceptable if it was a 21 year old brought through from the youth ranks (and even then there would be a limit to the excuse). He had a 1 on 1 sitter and missed....he had another clear chance where he was put through and let the ball go some other random direction. In the league that costs us points and it's not acceptable. He's disgraceful and "effort" is not acceptable when you produce 2 open play goals in a season.

Re: Official - Soldado

We can't afford charity cases or passengers in the team (especially with Poch's style of play). The days where Invisibilinho can get away with doing diddly squat in general play and the days where Soldado continues missing basic chances that League 2 strikers would finish without an issue are over. We allow this **** to happen again this season and we might as well write this season off....but i'm confident Poch will not allow this.

he scored today.

Re: Official - Soldado

I don't think he's done enough to claim a starting place against the Spammers.

I'm curious, about how many points did he cost us if he had taken let's say 1/3? I have a feeling Solly will come good this season.

Re: Official - Soldado

I like all three of our centre forwards. I would be gutted to see us gamble on someone else instead of backing bobby at this time.

Re: Official - Soldado

When he came on at half time my only thought was please let Soldado score [-o<

And he did so I'm happy. :)

I agree with Ade starting against Spam though.
