Politics, politics, politics

Not just by association, he's the leader of the party, he (according to Ruth Smeeth) was there and he did nothing.

That lack of action shows that he either agrees with such views or is happy to ignore them.

Steady on Scara. Im' glad that I don't live in a society where you are judge, jury and executioner. Was it a room where there were three people? Was it a crowded room, where possibly Corbyn did not hear the remarks? Did it even occur at all? Who knows, that is why I said we should wait for some context.

I find it hard to imagine that he could get any serious Conservative backing after behaving like that.

I agree. The Tories are a ruthless bunch and admire hard headed ambition but I do not think that they like sly and duplicitous. I think that it will be May and A.N.Other that goes through to the vote of members.

It is also worth remembering that Gove was demoted before the last election on the advice of Lynton Crosby because his polling told him that Gove turned off voters.

A woman gets racially abused by her own party and you ask if she's lying? A bit low, don't you think?

As for Corbyn's involvement, in her own words:
while the leader of my own party stood by and did absolutely nothing

"people in this country have had enough of experts"

Corbyn saying

“Our Jewish friends are no more responsible for the actions of Israel or the Netanyahu government than our Muslim friends are for those of various self-styled Islamic states or organisations.”

at the launch of a report into antisemitism was incredibly crass and stupid too.

saying that in any situation does him no credit, he has baggage there and so does the party

I'm amazed it got past their comms dept, that would not have happened under Campbell

I've stated before and probably should do again that I don't think Corbyn is anti-semitic.

I do, however, think that he considers the feelings and the rights of Jewish people to be collateral damage when attacking the enemy in the form of Israel.

It was in the published speech evidently, so it was not an off the cuff mistake.

Racially abused?? I saw a black man say "I saw that the Telegraph handed a copy of a press release to Ruth Smeeth MP so you can see who is working hand in hand." referencing anti-Corbyn MPs working with Telegraph.

Never seen anything blown out of proportion so much in my life.

I don't think that he is either but his only job today was to accept the report, say that he will implement its findings and not do or say anything stupid. Given that many of his supporters are very quick to resort to antisemitic insults on social media towards anyone who takes a different view from them and his slowness to deal with Livingstone, it was an incredibly stupid thing to say.

Her own report of the incident claimed that a common Jewish slur was used against her. In my book that's racially abused.

Same thing crossed my mind as well.

I understand that parliament might want to discuss the terms of exit, but I can't see any legitimate excuse they could have for discussing whether or not we leave - that choice was clear.

It could be quite legitimate for Parliament to delay Article 50 notification being made, if they thought that the proposals were not in the national interest. I would take a different view if the leave campaign had made a clear and consistent case of what Brexit would look like during the campaign and stuck to it afterwards.

Here is another legal piece on Article 50 notification that takes a different view to the last article but it still draws a similar conclusion

https://publiclawforeveryone.com/20...-50-does-not-require-parliament-to-legislate/

I still think that the easiest way for Brexit to be completed is for there to be a general election where the Conservatives stand on their proposed Brexit deal. If they win the election then their MPs would have to back it in the Commons and it could be pushed through the Lords under the Parliament Act.

What seems to be forgotten or ignored is that this follows a similar pattern of what Boris did to Cameron.
No, its Gove that sh@t all over his close friendship with Cameron by not only joining the leave campaign but actually taking the helm of it, practically going head to head with Cameron. He betrayed Cameron and now he has stabbed Johnson from all sides.

The man is two faced and ruthless
