Arsenal to sign Bernard???...great day so far ](*,)

Arsenal inch closer to Spurs and Liverpool target Bernard

ARSENAL appear to have made a major breakthrough in their bid to land a marquee player this summer.

Reports surfacing in Brazil suggest that the Gunners have 'agreed' a £21.5m deal.

Spurs and Liverpool were also vying for the Atletico Mineiro midfielder's signature but it seems that the Gunners have won the race for him.

This is contrary to recent reports which suggested that Spurs were 'only contenders' for Bernard according to the player's agent.

The Gunners have been lining up numerous midfield targets including Everton's Marouane Fellaini though they are reluctant to meet his current release clause which stands at £23m.

Arsene Wenger has been handed a colossal £70m kitty and should they land him, it would represent a key-note signing.

The Frenchman has only brought Yaya Sanogo on a free this summer, and is keen to strengthen the squad so that he can end an eight-year trophy drought.

A Brazilian reporter intimated it is a done deal, saying: "Atletico Mineiro’s Bernard is going to join Arsenal."

The 20-year-old did not feature in any of Mineiro's games last season.

Paris SG have confirmed the signing of AS Roma defender Marquinhos for a fee believed to be in the region of 30 m Euros

I would not be unhappy if Arse spunked a load of dough on this kid.

The fees quoted and (some) being paid are ridiculous. Like drunks in a fluffy bunnies cuddlinghouse some chairmen.

He's going to be the next big thing out of Brazil I think. Just a gut feeling, nothing to it though! :-"

But where would they play him? Podolski is on the left, they already have Cazorla (Who's a similar player no?) who likes to drift out to the left and cut in, Walnutt on the other side and Chamberlain looking to get more playing time.....

Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina is to join Napoli on a season-long loan deal.

Napoli coach Rafael Benitez moved swiftly for his fellow Spaniard and former number one during his spell at Anfield after failing in his bid to sign Julio Cesar from QPR.

Reina, 30, was due to report back for training on Sunday before flying out to join Liverpool's pre-season tour.

Why is it shocking, he has been rubbish for 2 years now but still managed to avoid 1/10 of the brick from the media that Gomes got in his time with us

somewhat true - though I think that rogers is using him as a spacegoat to hid the deficiencies of the team's defence. we'll see if mignolet will be better with those dimwits in front of him.

Would be funny if Barca bought Agger and Liverpool would have to start the season with Skrtel, Toure and Coates as their cb's

Podolski's on the bench more than he is the left nowadays.
