***OMT TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs Liverpool***

Dorrington at CB v Rangers to bed him in and a couple starts/actual minutes in the league and his first start isn't against victims, you can then play Gray in CM

Even Jose through Tanganga in v victims for Debut and he did well.

At least get some benefit of these games and blood youngsters in their correct position.
He did bring Tanganga in
But who else in that pine up was a novice
I rate Dorrington
But it’s easy for fans to say play the kids forgetting the pressure of the moments
I do think he should have been doing that much earlier in the dean’s before hitting the boiling point he has now but that’s his calls
Again… injuries haven’t helped there
Dorrington started the season injured
Spence injured after 5 games
That’s two players who may, may have had more games

We have enough young players as it is, you can't play too many. Play Dorrington v Rangers? He fudged up against Southampton for them to score only for it to be fortunately be disallowed. We only drew with Rangers as it was and people were frothing at the bit. Always sounds nice and easy when a poster says 'throw on the kids' when you're not the ones who have to deal with the ramifications of it....

Porro is an awful defender. Lovely footballer but truly awful defender. A poor man’s Trent.

Spence needs to play right back. 2 or 3 times today, he defended Salah in a way I’ve never seen Porro do. Spence can defend and is good on the ball. Not as good as Porro but as a full package at right back, it’s Spence all day long for me.
In this system both full backs bomb forward which inevitably leaves us short at the back because the midfielders don't cover across like they did in Poch's system, for example.

Sky did a good analysis on the circumstances leading to their third goal just before half time. We had just got back to 2-1 why not keep it tight, go in only a goal down. Instead Spence, a LB surges forward leaving a big gap behind. Dragu then panics trying to cover across and mis times his jump for the header. Liverpool in and score.

That passage of play had nothing to do with injuries or tiredness. It was poor game management pure and simple. And it is suicidal playing like that against Liverpool. I like Ange but shrugging your shoulders and saying "that's the way it is mate" is irritating.

When we’re chasing a game they do bomb on
Where were they when pool tool the lead
In the right positions just not doing enough
I’ve read fans today say we should have shut up shop when 3 down…

I was very very impressed with The Dippers and how they beat our press. The amount of clever little balls they played to beat our attacking line was very impressive. The movement to find the space and the intelligence to find the pass destroyed us. Helped we were so open but they are a lot better than I thought they were.

Fitness plays a big part. Fresh and fully at it, I think we could do the same. But they also have some monster defensive players. We’re playing a compromised system atm. Normally we’d be tighter and pushing up, with Romero and VDV snapping at their heels.

Have to confess, I missed the 3rd. Went for a tinkle full of hope and came back with the contents of my bladder and all hope having disappeared down the urinal.

He really does. This should be his last season , babysit the new Korean kid and then part ways.
His legacy is in danger of being ruined.
Son will be fine used sparingly and in the right games
Today he was worse than a kid
That was scary
He made it easy for their defence to pass it out and he is better than that
He also knows how his game has changed and how we need to play. He is a smart guy and probably knows his career is ending

He could have played the exact same team today and played low with no press. We could have still been dangerous on the break.

As it was we went for a shootout against the best team in the league with a patched up team. I always think….what would the oppo want? Undoubtedly they’d favour the shootout today. We could have made it much more difficult for them. Push everything back to the middle, 631 at times. No full backs pressing their full backs etc etc.

Just a side note - people keep saying it could have been 7-1 etc. the xg was about 4.5 vs 1.5. You can’t say coulda should woulda for one team and not the other.

Managers tend to have a lot more leeway if they do play the kids, we conceded 6 today.

I'm sure we would have lost, but let's see what some of these youngsters are made of.

The score was right
Although annoyingly we scored the better technical goals
They scored the gifts we gave them and form their own hard work
So typical

Same defence.

Biss and Bergvall or Sarr to sit deeper and play balls into Kulu or Solanke to hold it up and develop the play from there.
Have Porro and Spence be a little less adventurous to allow less space for Liverpool to exploit.

You then have Sarr or Bergvall to come in after 60mins to freshen up.
You can then get 25 mins out of Werner and Johnson to use their pace and stretch the game.

You have a good chance of being level or only narrowly behind doing the above.

There is not a lot to work with - but there is something. And yes it wouldn't be doing it "his way", but right now we don't have that luxury. He needs to use what he has, not what he wants, to get points - because that's how football seasons are decided, on points, not on philosophy.

One of the absolute certainties you’ll hear from every fan base when things are going wrong is “put in the kids instead of these overpaid tossers. At least they’ll play for the badge.”

As sure as night follows day…

Let's say we'd gone 4-5-1 today. Do you think we'd have won? Who does he pick that is fit that can play that way that still leaves us something on the bench?
Well for example we could have gone 4-2-3-1 with ease.

Solanke

Werner ---- Madison ---- Porro

Gray --- Sarr

Reg ---- Dorrington ---- Dragusin ---- Djed

I would have gone for a more solid midfield.. If not Sarr, then Bissouma.

No one has said that have they?

The squads on fumes and some need a rest
The players we have to rotate are youngsters
Whack them in, something good might come from this injury crisis we are having and a youngster might step up

No they wouldn't.

Or at least they wouldn't have if they had seen him for more than 10 minutes against Southampton
They would
We have a massively divided fan base right now and it’s quite toxic
Add in the protest (if it happened) and Ange playing some youth pakyers
Would be mental

I disagree, I'm very much in favour of the clubs approach on our summer signings for the future - we needed older heads as well - maybe I am bias

But fans tend to get behind youth teamers.

Your logic is valid
I want to see more of the kids
Today isn’t that game
I do think Ange has under used what he has had
But I also think he can’t win ok that front
I’ve Have had to mute two what’s app groups that I’m part of because it’s all “fat aussie clam” form some really fat blokes strangely
I can’t be asked with that level of mind set anymore

always the fat ones

Overweight lumps calling Lampard fat was always amusing.
