***OMT TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs Liverpool***

Is clueless an insult?
It's an opinion mate.
I think calling any professional who has made it to the top of their profession an 'idiot' is the pinnacle of laziness/ignorance. Remember when we had that chat about Trump, and I said regardless of how much I dislike him, I would never ever call him an idiot, because he clearly is not one.

It's not just today, every fudging game Porro is so far up the pitch that our right handside is exposed and we get overrun with Porro missing.
Yeah but even when he's there he misses headers or doesn't challenge , he's miles off it defensively.
Ange seems to love him as does everyone on here but people I know all question his defending , it's tinkle poor and that's being kind.

More or less what Carragher (who was actually being very reasonable) just said on Sky; that Ange doesn’t adapt to circumstance. He has an 18 year old playing out of position at the heart of the defence but he is offered no protection, and we just play as if we have our first choice CBs there.

Carragher also said it’s not acceptable to stand in the post-match interview and shrug and say there’s not much could be done; you have to adapt your game plan to the circumstances that you find yourself in.

Even a simpleton like that can see it.

I can see that, but equally, I think it's pretty deluded to believe that a defense/midfield playing three games a week and including the backups we have in there - one performing heroically out of position - are not factors too.

Essentially the argument comes down to one thing for me. Does the manager rip up the work we've been doing for 18 months temporarily to try and guide us through the next 3-4 weeks (even though results might not be too different) or do we wear the pain for long-term gain when hopefully we have a fit(ter) squad? And that is down to one's opinion...
It’s part of the pain of the rebuild

All I hear is he should change things
He had at his disposal
Lankshear with 2 starts in Europe
Reggie who he thinks can’t play ball
Bergvall with 2 league start
Werner who everyone thinks is brick and has been ill
Udogie who is nursing an injury
Johnson who I also believe is managing an injury
And the rest.. are kids
Genuine kids
I had a ante day I’d back him if he paid the kids and rested some players
Could you imagine the fans
Highest ticket prices in the galaxy to see Callum Olusesi and Alfie Dorrington

We’ve promoted him to the top of his profession, clearly way before he was ready for it.

And on it will go.
People who don't like Ange's style (all good, opinions and all that), people who don't wish to offer context for what's going on (again, all good, opinions, etc), total fudging w a n k e r s who will proclaim that Ange is 'an idiot' and 'clueless' (not acceptable in my opinion and I will call them out)...
Again, different opinions? Brilliant. That's the beauty of life, and I think our forum manages to have some excellent discussions with differing views.
But blind and ignorant insults? Nah. Not having it.

As long as you recognise that you're also calling people total fudging tossers for having a different opinion to you.

You said you had a feeling we'd win this today, did you put money on it? As you seemed quite sure. Muchlike before other disastrous home games iirc. Maybe this will seem snide but it seems like positivity for the sake of it. I'm probably guilty of the inverse on occasion!

Talk about whatever context you like, label it a reason rather than an excuse if it feels better - it does come down to results and where those results leave you in the table. It seems so much easier to moan about the fan's reaction than it is the football, it's avoiding certain realities.

Well I think Trump is dangerous and an idiot but will leave that there.

Clueless is not really an insult, I mean bringing up a person's physical appearance nationality etc is wrong though I often think a throw away remark. Fat aussie cnut.

But I think clueless is perfect to describe anyone that sets up a team like he did today.

At 0-0 I thought we were a bit more cautious. Not always pressing and the FBs a bit more conservative.

What was impressive was how aggressive, big, and imposing pool were early doors. Kept the game mostly in our half. When we got possession we were bullied off the ball. And when we got free the ref stopped play - Son.

Then once chasing the game we throw caution to the wind. Tbf it got us back to 1-2, Shane we conceded a 3rd right after.

With ‘pool rotating players midweek and an extra day of rest they should look sharper and stronger. We showed we could compete in an attacking sense and with a fresh midfield, defence and first choice keeper and CBs we would let in less.

Always a hard game. But personally think we’re better equipped to take them on and win playing like this than being a Conte-like team where we might lose 1-2.

For example, our odds of winning against this Liverpool side playing this system might be 3 in 10 (higher with fresh first teamers). The Conte setup, maybe 1 out of 10. So whilst we lost, I think we are on the right path. Which is to become a side that will go toe to toe with the best. And pool are right now. Their defensive strength was the difference to us. They had Van Dyke and 4-5 other players who tackle and dominate. We had a coupon of kids and a leggy Bissouma.

Porro is an awful defender. Lovely footballer but truly awful defender. A poor man’s Trent.

Spence needs to play right back. 2 or 3 times today, he defended Salah in a way I’ve never seen Porro do. Spence can defend and is good on the ball. Not as good as Porro but as a full package at right back, it’s Spence all day long for me.

That was one of my two takeaways from today. The other is that Gray needs a chance in midfield when Romero and VDV come back.

I said to the others I was watching it with as soon as we made it 2-1 , we wouldn't make it to HT without conceding. You could say we had momentum but we were largely getting outplayed and surely just get to HT with a flattering 2-1 scoreline and regroup.

Dorrington at CB v Rangers to bed him in and a couple starts/actual minutes in the league and his first start isn't against Liverpool, you can then play Gray in CM

Even Jose through Tanganga in v Liverpool for Debut and he did well.

At least get some benefit of these games and blood youngsters in their correct position.

I was very very impressed with The Dippers and how they beat our press. The amount of clever little balls they played to beat our attacking line was very impressive. The movement to find the space and the intelligence to find the pass destroyed us. Helped we were so open but they are a lot better than I thought they were.

But what is stopping him from being a bit more cautious? Not pushing so many players forward? Liverpool could have scored 10 today. 2-1 down just scored in back in the game and only moments away from half time, be sensible, don’t push the full backs forward but no of course he never changes no matter what the score or the situation.

Agree on both points. Porro needs to be taken out of the firing line. Forest away against Hudson -odoi is not the game for him.
Our wafer thin squad with the lack of depth and quality is denying Gray the chance of playing in midfield.
