***OMT Tottenham Hotspur vs Emirates Marketing Project ***

Another City notch in the belt, well done! Though not totally unexpected, City plays a system that both suits us well, and is much like how we often play against opponents we don't take too seriously ourselves. Low to moderate press without half hearted ball recovery intent, leaving lots and lots of open space to run or break into, not afraid of high-risk though balls, rarely overcommitting and relying on superior skill (regardless of whether this exists or not) to pull the boat to shore. Little scary that even their second string seemed that much more secure in their passing quality, but we were much, much better at running with the ball.

Still, City's reserve squad would not get relegated so this is a result to be proud of, Haaland smirk or not. Kulusevski MotM for me, Werner runner-up.

I think so.

Kulu was also great.

And for the time he was on, Richi was fudging brilliant, closing down all over the pitch.
Bentancur for me. Really good all the way through, used the ball well and was often in the right place at the right time.

Richy was hit and miss. Lots of effort, some brickhousing, some great touches and some brainless play. He passed a very lazy ball to Solanke that was an awful pass but it made Solanke look bad.

There was another one where he should have jockeyed the City lad but got skinned coz he gave him so much space. Yeah he’s not a defender but a 12 year old wouldn’t do what he did.

I see the Quarter-final is sandwiched between Southampton away and Liverpool at home.

If this was Championship Manager you could guarantee the draw would be a duplicate of one of those two fixtures

Great to win, but I fear it will cost us more than we gain. VDV out for probably 4-6 weeks, maybe more. Werner scoring and playing really well, out injured. Johnson looked injured too and Solanke looked completely exhausted. Add Son, Odobert and Spence and we're in trouble!

Are they all city players? Because that is all sky have went on about, the terrible, terrible injury list poor city have.

Oddly never felt at any point we were going to lose that tonight. Outfield play is now starting to break through the lines regularly, though we are not finding Solanke enough for my liking.

Has to be said, in the event it's not, that Vicario's stock has fallen a fair way in my eyes now. His decision making isn't as good as it was and he has a fidgety demeanour now which promotes nerves. He needs a proper challenger in the next window, such that he doesn't get too comfortable in his no1 shirt.

Vdv was back on the bench in the second half, not what I'd expect from a hamstring tear. Suspect he has been told to signal the first moment there's a niggle. Hopefully his frustration was just at missing the rest of the game.

Good performance, good win, great fun.

Spell in the first half where we were properly under pressure, but managed to improve in the second half. Still under pressure at times of course, but we managed to get out and break. We managed to turn the screw the other way at times.

Lovely for Werner to get a goal. Hope it's not a bad injury.

Beating City is one of those things you don't caveat much

There will always be moments, you take yours and try to keep theirs to a minimum

Well done to the boys
They suffered we usually do. To intricate and no cutting edge.

We looked really good on the counter, it does suit our fast attackers to have space to run into. I'd love to see a bit more of that even in games when we probably dominate possession in.

Better than losing the game and losing key players to injuries like City just did...

It was notable when Richy, tired Solanke and Moore were our front 3, they were not as rapid as we usually enjoy watching.

I'm pleased for Ange that it worked out tonight, that's a good win. Some of City's players are really good, even the kids. I thought O'Neill looked particularly good. And don't forget Macatee is the star of England U21s and far outshines Archie Gray in those games.

Well there you go. Just home, quite a few glasses of Malbec on board. Hit the like button folks. You’re welcome.

Your liver will be a mess when Spurs win the league.
