OMT ** Tottenham Hotspur v Wolves ** 29 December 2024.

No team is easy in this league
A team who won their last two with a new manager is never easy again
But hey we should smash wolves like we did last season and the one before
Yep, selective memory coupled with an arrogance that we should just turn up and beat these teams. I just checked and we've only beat Wolves once in our last six matches against them.

I think thats the first point we have taken in a game against them at our stadium.

But yes, we should be beating clubs we have such a resource advantage over generally.

Enough fuel was provided, its been burned through too quickly, there is only one person responsible for that.

Bad decisions in August bite you on the arse in December.

It's a marathon not a sprint.

Etc, so on, so forth.
Can’t argue with that
Hence my comments we don’t have the resources … should have added … today
I am genuinely intrigued now to see what the club actually do in Jan
They can see the issue
Ange has been vocal about
We have at least 1 player on loan who can help us straight away and his loan club are a mess, in Philips
There are quite a few very good players coming out of contract that we could exploit their positions for if we saw fit
The club has options but I don’t know the ambition

It is interesting isn't it as well that the "our squad is too small" phalanx don't look at the fact that regardless of squad size, up and down the PL, you'll generally know 9 or 10 out of 11 players that will be turning out for any given club on any given match day if everyone is fit and available. Liverpool play mid-week and weekends. Salah starts every game when he's fit. So do all of their key players. Haaland starts every weekend and midweek for City fitness permitting. Rice, Saliba, Saka for Arsenal...

This idea that you need x2 similar quality players for every position in your team.- very few coaches actually want that. You end up with pressure to drop players, play other players and break up momentum.

Yes you need a squad and it would be good to have Richarlison available, but let's say he was, Solanke is still starting every game he's fit other than choice cup games.

So when I see people say "our players are running on fumes" i just kind of roll my eyes....if they are that's on the way we play and the way we train, not on the fact they're being selected all the time.

Until we change the intensity in training and in matches it doesn't really matter.

Mo Farah would pull a hamstring in our system.

We still have home grown/club trained and locally trained squad issues, which does limit us in the market in terms of who can be brought in and be registered to play, particularly in Europa League.

Really hope Wolves fudge off back to the championship and never come back. Cant stand them and WBA. Basically the Black Country/West Midlands teams can do one. Why do we have such a poor record against both teams?

That was a sh** show of a performance. Result was ok, could have been worse. Could have been better. But anyone watching recent games thinking there is progress happening or the foundations being built for something need their head examining. If they're being honest most people that are "Ange in" at this point are not that way out because they think he's going to turn this around and create anything at Spurs, they're Ange In because they're tired and they can't be bothered with the club starting again after yet another poor choice of manager.
100% 👋

Probably because they do the dark arts and brickhousery whereas we don't. I wouldn't want us to either but they know it works and will wind up opposing teams. I still don't know why they don't simply put in a 6 second rule for whoever picks up the ball for a throw in, has to take it within 6 or let's say 10 seconds buzzer style, and if they don't then it's a throw in back to the other team. Similarly goal kicks, have to be taken with a countdown or it's a corner, fudge it a penalty.

Won't happen but it should have been done years ago and would cut out time wasting instantly.

They used to give goalies 6 seconds to release the ball years back, shortly after after back passes that were picked up were made illegal, but then that phased out. Should bring that rule back too but I think you have to also then bring in the rule where the clock stops when ball goes out of play, which I don't think they ever want to do.

I also think that should be brought in, a bit Yankee style but would cut out all this extra time brick. However the refs and assistants would most likely fudge that up too.
