***OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Liverpool***

Tomorrow is a free hit for me
I know people won’t agree but I’ve seen better spurs sides brick the bed constantly up there
Pool should be heavy favourites
But… I do think we can do a number on them if we’re smart and focussed

I remember us going up there as massive underdogs in the league cup back in 1999 and winning 3-1, with Iversen and John Scales scoring! And Rory Allen with the third? That was the best night of my life up until that point, haha. Let's do another one of those tonight.

15:50 into this:

It's funny, I remember these goals so well still many years later, how is that even possible, but only from the default angle. The clip I had from the game never showed the alt angles replays. Haha.

Intellectualy, yeah, pretty much. Got to a semi final with a fairly tough run. Got a result in the first leg. Away to one of the best teams around for the second leg. Whatever happens that's good going.

Emotionally... Anything but a free hit for me. Massive game, massive stakes, chance to turn a dreadful season into something rather decent. Chance to secure (the least good) European participation next year. Chance for a final.

Ah, Steffen Iversen - For some reason one of my favourite ever Spurs strikers?! Perhaps because he summed up the extreme averageness of Spurs in that era :D As a kid/teenager growing up was great seeing us win that trophy, sadly at the time I didn't realise what a special and rare occurrence it would be....

Mine too, along with Teddy, but mostly for him being Norwegian, I think. My team had an "important" match on the day of the final, so I had to call in sick to the coach (who I feared at the time, a very loud strict guy who abused his wife as it later turned out), and everyone on my team knew I was lying, haha. Little did I know as well. If we could win something being that brick, then surely we would win more if we just became better. Oh, sweet summer child of a Spurs fan.

I’ve been to Anfield 3 times, the Klinsmann FA Cup quarter final, the 3-1 league cup win and a 0-0 draw in the league with Gardner, Richards and King keeping them out.

Unfortunately I’m not going tomorrow..

The silence and shock of the home fans at the 2-1 cup win was a joy. We never won up there in my Dad's lifetime, it was great being there with my son and son-in-law made better as I didn't drive home and could have a few beers to celebrate unlike the dreadful return from Leeds in the semi.

I disagree. Do we have to be sensible defensively? Yes. Do we want to sit back and wait for what would be inevitable? No. We need to be more controlled. We need to attack and defend as a team.

If we sit back then we invite pressure on us and then one mistake or great moment for Liverpool and what are we defending? I also think that the team would have a defensive mentality and then find it harder to switch up the gears to go for the attacks.

I think we need to be strong but not to fall back. We need to be a team and hopefully all those lucky enough to be going will give it their all tomorrow night. Be positive for the team WHATEVER happens. We beat City and United to get here so we have had a good cup run but let’s make it a great cup run!

I agree you can't flip a switch and turn from defensive mind set to attack with control, it's normally just kicking long balls and losing shape.

It was a GREAT day!

I remember the 0-1 win when Peter Shreeves was the boss. First time we'd won up there since the Titanic sunk in 1912. I remember the headline on the back page of the Sun the next day with Shreeves saying to the players "You can keep your shirts!". Don't think we've won that many times up there since then TBF.

Was that in the 1984-85 season or much later?

I would love it to win or draw tonight
Pool are the best team on the planet currently
But.. what’s key for me is we give it our best shot

Well, I asked AI, as everyone else seems to do these days, and if I'm reading the resulting picture correctly it seems like our gameplan should involve using two balls, and let Liverpool score the goals for us!

I guess that means they will score two own goals, we have massive cojones, and that Liverpool-player who looks like Michael Schumacher has stolen the foot of the Spurs-player must unfortunately mean another serious injury..

Or just ditch AI all together, and go for the good old COYS! We'll win 3-1 on aggregate!

Did you just describe how football works?
I was hoping no-one would pick me up on that one. Yep, true. But we've got it worse than many other teams. More (and realer) hope for the wins against the top teams, more disappointment at the inevitable losses against the bottom ones.

We are gonna need a bit of luck as well tonight. Even though we defended bravely against Brentford we still handed them a number of chances. We will need to be alert at all times and try and stifle Salah and co. as much as possible
