OMT ** Tottenham Hotspur v AZ - Thursday 24 October at 8pm **

So, earlier, I mooted the notion that Mikey Moore might be in contention for a start against Crystal Palace.

If he's played wide left, CP's creaky RBs include Daniel Munoz (28, started last game), Joel Ward (34) and Nathaniel Clyne (33).

Moore should be able to run rings around this lot. Even if he doesn't score or set up a goal, just think about the possibilities that he just runs down CP's starting RB and gives Odobert - or Werner - a weakened defence to run at in the latter stages of the second half.

If CP have to sub out Munoz, they are doomed with what we can offer down the left.

And if you want to flip that scenario, start Odobert or Werner and bring on Moore to run at a reduced RB from 60 mins. on.

Either way, I like it a lot.
Son will perhaps be back. But agree with you none the less.

Great options to have and also gives us options for the right if Johnson isn't on it or in need of a sub.

After seasons of watching 11 blokes thrown together struggling to look like a team and losing it made a nice change. As many have written there were positives to take from match, game time for youngsters and those who needed it, a clean sheet for Foster, goal for Richy, Mickey Moore showed his talent and character after early miss, gave a rest to regulars and most importantly a victory, that's all you have to do in a cup game. I didn't expect a dominant team display with so many changes but felt we did control well at times as well as looking to over play in defence. Well pleased with result.
Fully agreed.

We changed 9 players, right? Not a "reserve side" as such. Full internationals, experienced players that have been or could have been starters for us at times when we've had a worse squad. But we looked cohesive with mostly a "reserve side", heavy rotation at least. That's not a given. And we're also seeing young very talented players taking good steps.

Just need the fans to accept not all those steps will be forward and be prepared for the off days

I am starting to believe we can win this competition.

Don't want to rain on the parade but there's a long way to go and I don't think we've got a strong enough squad to compete in 4 competitions. It may become clearer in the next couple of weeks. It's difficult to predict who will be in top 8 of EL as you're not just competing against the teams in your group for places.

I don’t think it is
Teams will quickly give up on it if the are in that bottom section because they know they can’t qualify

Went yesterday with my son and my nephew.
Loved it.
Great atmosphere, good performances from some youngsters (especially Moore in the second half) and for once lots of rotation that didn't come back to bite us in the butt.

AND A CLEAN SHEET!!

Hopefully a great platform for the tough back-to-back games vs Palace, and especially Emirates Marketing Project and Villa and gives us a chance for a bit of another rotated breather vs Galatasaray.

Good to see Odebert back too!

There are 24 places up for grabs (only 12 go out)...so game 7 and 8 there could easily be live opportunities even for teams that have had a bad competition up to that point.

I wonder what points total the 24th team will qualify with?

I Think about 10 points is needed to go through.

I think this is the deepest/strongest squad we've had tbh - first XI quality not as good as peak Poch or Redknapp teams but wrt juggling 4 comps we've never been better equipped imv

I'd be more confident if we had cover in goal, left back and real defensive midfield, a few injuries can make it difficult. The Gooners looked to be moving smoothly until 2 injuries have them scratching about.
