OK, I got given an xbox 360 basic bundle from betfair a year ago, but it has like 10GB of space.

Question I have is that it takes external device for storage now, so does an SSD external work, is that better than say a WD external.

My guess would be no, it's not better. It's connected through USB2, I'm assuming, which will bottleneck whatever write/read speeds you get from having an SSD. Plus, they're still kind of expensive.

Isn't external storage on an Xbox limited to 16gb anyway?

Nah, you can connect an external HDD of the size you want, but it needs to be formatted in FAT32. Usually Windows don't want to do that with storage bigger than 32GB, but it's easily circumvented. The bummer with FAT32 is that you can't save anything bigger than 4GB on it.

Oh right, I thought if you wanted to use it for game saves and installing games etc it was limited (to try keep people buying their proper HDD at great cost).

On my xbox, its telling me that it will format it for me, all I have to do is connect it to the xbox, then go to settings.

more on gta:

*Underwater world (with underwater caves) and diving equipment confirmed.

*Side-missions similar to Taxi, Ambulance and Vigilante will be back but "probably not identical to the ones in previous GTAs" because they wouldn't fit in with the 3 main character personalities, but the "three will have odd jobs to do".

*Trevor will be the skilled helicopter pilot, Franklin the skilled driver and sniper, Michael the "smooth operator", skilled and versatile.

*Franklin is looking for a mentor and he finds one in Mike after they meet during one of Franklin's repo man jobsTrevor is inspired by the typical GTA player that only roams around the game creating havoc, death and destruction.

*Mission types will vary among "big and small events , explosive, infiltration, super spectacular, family issues, invasion, hostage recovery, heists and robberies. Plus classic GTA missions but updated and improved..

*Cover mechanics have been greatly improved and cover will be very important in the gameplay.

*About the economy, Dan Houser says: "You will be able to spend money to buy interesting and fun things like expensive toys. We are still working on the economy but it will be a strong element in the game and players will be eager to make money to spend money. Something along the lines of "I went through all of this to make all this money and now I'm going to spend it on this crazy item."

*Dynamic music during missions (similar to games like L.A. Noire)

*No co-op for single player missions, but co-op modes will be featured in multiplayer.

*Big focus on multiplayer with a lot of content to keep players busy.

*The song Radar Love was heard playing on the in-game radio.

*Alamo Sea is the name of the Salton Sea like area.

*Radial menu to select the 3 protagonists.

*Switching in missions partially scripted - meaning, at times character switching will happen automatically

*In final part of a mission in the demo, the player can decide which character to use.

*There are multiple different endings in the storyline which depend on the choices you made throughout the game.

*Map open from beginning, with the exception of some protected areas.

*A certain amount of money will be needed to gain access to some missions.

*There is a functioning ecosystem teeming with wildlife

*The game is roughly the length of Red Dead Redemption in the time it takes to fully complete. For those who didn't play Red Dead, it was packed full of a lot of extra content, separate from the main storyline. These included things like the Stranger Missions and the 50 unique world events. GTAV has similar versions of this content in its world.

Was thinking bout the potential this could have... I.e. If they have farms like in the first San Andreas then maybe they will have horses!? Surely then that would mesn you could go all Read Dead Redemption through San Andreas on horseback causing havoc!!

Think they will be missing a trick if they dont have that in the game... The mechanics are akready there from RDR (which runs on the same game engine) and I think that would just add another simple yet fun dimension to the huge GTA playground

Yeah, that would be brilliant! Hopefully it would work on other animals as well, I want to ride a sheep into town!

Not sure how good the tv is, I think its end of line on the stock. Amazon who generally are the best price or near to it, last sold the TV this month for £519
TV is 3D and Freeview HD. Despite not knowing enough about the screen, this seems a terrific deal.

Maybe others can comment on the screen.

Kids have the xbox, adults get a tv in the lounge/bedroom. Great deal if you getting a console next month

Might get Hitman today as I have found a digital PC copy for only 16 quid. Also gonna pre order FarCry 3 for 25 quid.

Looking to upgrade my PC bit by bit as I built it over 2yrs ago now so could do with a bit of a refresh. Just a new case and some RAM for now

How is everyone getting on with black ops 2??

I have it on the ps3 and enjoying it.. last years one was good but i felt there was definitely a lag problem. This year scores are much more even.

I particularly like the maps hijack, slums and over flow.

I played it a week ago and it may be blasphemy but if no one had told me it was a new game I would not have noticed. Yeah it's boss, but if I had a console I wouldn't be paying 40 quid or so every year, at least in football you get the player updates and team changes and that so they can partially justify a new game every year...

i just took delivery of some turtle beach xp500 headphones. anybody got them? anything i should know?

They don't double up as ear muffs very well.
You cant cook with them.
They will not wake you up in the morning with a cup of tea....

Exactly my point too. The series needs an overhaul big time. But if they keep breaking sales records they'll keep pumping them out yearly.

Just downloading Hitman:Absolution and FarCry3. I paid a little more for FarCry to get the deluxe version as it came with some extra games and challenges. Been watching some video reviews and it looks the bollox... Including multiplayer (complete with map maker). So im lookin forward to gettin on that tomorrow. Altho I do wanna finish GTA4 as Im further than I have ever gotten in the past and would be a shame to just hang it up yet again considering im so close to finally comoleting a GTA (San Andreas was the closest i got to completing one). The Episodes for LC can wait
