We have just finished season 4 as well and i agree we both thought it was not as good as the previous ones.

Yes the storyline was not as strong this time, but subplots were planted and character development was at the forefront- which we might find permit a return to form in forthcoming seasons.

I really did enjoy those last few episodes though - perhaps because I watched week by week rather than binge-ing on it.

Lets hope so then because as i said i really did enjoy the first three series.

I'd run out of superlatives for Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist series.

So well done. A story based on true facts surrounding Muhammad Ali's first fight out of jail, in Atlanta. Post-fight party for various VIPs and heavy hitters from the Black Mafia gets robbed at gunpoint by brash strivers. Cast features Samuel Jackson, Don Cheadle, Kevin Hart and scores more great character actors. Music, sets, props and dialogue all faithfully capture the '70s in the racially-charged southern USA.

Also enjoyed the murder-mystery series Vigil, which only became available here in the colonies recently, despite being shot in 2021. Lots of connections to Line of Duty on the production side. Tight, tense, well paced and photographed.

The Diplomat on Netflix.

It's got good reviews. Is beautifully shot. The acting is good. The story is ok. But it lacks. It's like Dynasty for politics. Constant striding from scene to scene. A bombastic plot turn every ten minutes. It's definitely chick lit. I'm tapping out after 5 episodes. Wife loves it. So it's not a bad drama. But definitely not for me.

Penguin is really really good. I haven't been interested in the Batman universe since I was a kid, but gonna have to watch a few of those movies now. Colin Farell is incredible, as is the woman playing Sofia.

I'm looking forward to the Dune series now.

Also watching Adventure Time with my son now. Fantastic show to watch with kids, its fun for us both. Very creative and imaginative with an original ooomph you don't often see in series that works for kids.

You only need to watch the latest Batman film with Robert Pattinson the star.

Interesting as I think the Batman universe stuff only gets interested once you have grown up a bit, themes of mental health displayed in all of the various villains, a downtrodden society, the vigilante complex and various aspects of privilege particular around the Wayne family.

I'm three deep into The Penguin, agree with everything you say, Cristin Miliotti has been great in everything I have seen her in, Black Mirror, Fargo (series) and Palm Springs. It's still quite novel watching "bad guys" going around being conniving AF, I guess there's a bit of an effort to humanise Oswald with a bit more about his upbringing and family stuff. The grim vibe of the city is portrayed so well as it was in the Batman.

Nolan's trilogy was brilliant, one and two in particular and the other Batman films, if you don't take them too seriously they are a lot of fun but I doubt Tommy Lee Jones would have the same opinion...I'd be interested if they brought back Dr Freeze in a less silly way but it seems nailed on there'll be another Joker in the sequel to the Batman, which just seems unnecessary imo.

Holy cow how do you not mention Cesar Romero, Frank Gorshin, Burgess Meredith and Chief O'Hara

I'm showing my age / ignorance here as I am unfamiliar with each and every name you have mentioned tbh. I haven't even seen the Adam West Batman films so can't comment on anything going back further than that...

Looking back, was it supposed to have homosexual undertones? All the outfits were very gay.

Funnily enough I was at the gay clothes store the other day, I saw loads of items of clothing that would definitely fit in to what I imagine the characters would wear in a 60s Adam West Batman show.

It was just after my visit to the gay foods store, where obviously they only sell phallic vegetables, but before my visit to the gay bookstore where it's solely Oscar Wilde books on sale.

There's a point in there, ever so subtedly coded in the subtext, top marks if you can work it out!
