Official - Holtby

Looks like Baldini won and has managed to save him for LVG.

I'm interested in your plan for good mental health when LVG doesn't become our manager. Maybe supply us all with a home address so we can check up on your to ensure you don't harm yourself?

i wonder what he'd choose to do in the summer if offered a contract by Fulham but also told by THFC that he is a part of the managers plans?

Interesting question for sure.

Either way I think it's a decent loan deal. He hasn't shown himself ready to be a central midfield option yet and he's far down the pecking order for the wide positions. That only leaves the number 10 role for him and he's clearly behind Eriksen, for most games behind an Ade and Soldado combo and quite possibly behind Lamela too.

Getting game time will do him good.

I'm going to keep a keen eye on Fulhams games now. Ever since he joined us I've got the feeling that he's just trying too hard. I'm really looking forward to seeing him being given a run of games!

I definitely think he will benefit from getting regular games in the Premier League!

If that will push him up to a level where he's good enough to be a starter for us, or if it will only push him up to a level where we'll get a solid transfer fee for him I don't know. I like the guy, his attitude and the effort he puts in, but either outcome is fine.

Have you been living in an alternate universe where AVB played Holtby more than 24 times in a calender year, with almost all those times coming off the bench (and, if I dare say so, a lot of those performances hardly had Holtby particularly impressing....?)

Agreed. I think the thing I'm most looking forward to is seeing him calm down and just play. I guess what I'm saying is that I'm looking forward to seeing how good he really is. Good enough for us or not, I don't believe we've seen his best for us.

We will wait and see, hopefully he can do a Townsend whilst down there and put in regular performances of a higher calibre. We have too many players vying for too few spots and I think this puts pressure on them to perform, like we have seen from Holtby and others this year trying so hard to force things to come offf

he is very intelligent and hardworking and has a pretty good touch. i'm sure he'll shine in that fulham team and become a crowd favourite.
i hope this doesn't mean that bentaleb starts every game!

LVG won't be Spurs manager. Clearly Gutter Boy really wants to see it happen, but the guy is 62 and has just announced his intention to retire after the World Cup. Yes, he left the door open a tiny bit ("Basically, I will retire, unless a very great challenge comes along.") but as much as I wish it were otherwise, I just don't see Spurs as being the "very great challenge" he's talking about. I can see him delaying his retirement if he gets offered a job at one of the massive clubs (e.g. if Man Utd finish mid-table and Moyes gets the boot), but he seems pretty disillusioned with football in general, and I very much doubt he wants to finish his career at a club that are struggling to reach the Champions League.

If Sherwood finishes Top Four, I think he will get at least one more season in charge (in which case I suspect Gutter Boy will need to be sedated). If he doesn't finish Top Four then I think he'll be replaced alright, but it's an absolute pipe-dream to think LVG is going to be our next manager.

(in my view)

Is there a greater challenge in football than to turn around a club that has been a decaying poisoned chalice for more than 20 years?

That hasn't won a major honour in 23 years or a league title in 53 years?

That has only qualified for the CL twice in 58 years?

LVG took the AZ job for exactly those sort of reasons. He'd won everything at the top of the game/with the big clubs and for the sake of his ego wanted to show he could do it with a small club. And he did.

LVG would take our job 'not because it is easy, but because it is hard'.

If the man still has the hunger to succeed and show he can manage in the EPL then we would likely be a good choice. We aren't poor and he would have some decent players to work with. Of course over here the Sky 4 reign supreme which is a problem compared to what he has had to deal with before

I don't think the Sky 4 exist at all anymore myself. I see it as 2 + 5 + the rest. City and Chelsea are well ahead, but there's very little between us, Arsenal, United, Everton and Liverpool.

Remember LGV toppeled the even more established big 3 in Holland (Ajax, Feyenoord and PSV) with little AZ

OK then…Holtby…Fulham debut at home to Soton…part of a 3-0 defeat…still considered 'a mistake' to loan him? Genuine question?

Right you are Milo.

From the MOTD highlights he looked bright and put in some good passes. Also took a good corner
