Levy needs to act quick (again) because the next job coming up on the horizon is possibly the Arsanal one............and i can see FdB and Poch being two names on their list

Plus, if it wasn't going to be LVG, then perhaps we could have appointed a new manager to take over from there onwards. And for those discussing the lack of options at that time, it's hardly like there are a lot now, is it?

At least though the manager would have had time with our current crop of players; time to work in his tactics and to get to work with the current crop of players.

But instead we appoint Sherwood....joke!

Yes in an ideal world we'd have been able to appoint a long term successor there and then but then we don't live in an ideal world.

Would you have been happy to appoint a 3rd/4th/5th choice then and possibly miss out on better options available in the summer?

by making the right offer that he couldnt refuse...........LVG made all the right noises, he wanted to come to the PL. You dont let people like him slip through you're fingers

Wow, it really is that easy isnt it! I think you'd be in for a culture shock if you ever had to run a business and negotiate with footballers, managers and agents....

How long do you drag that last paragraph out? What if Mourinho gets sacked in December & wants to manage us. Should we not appoint a manager now, just in case?

I think for long term stability we should have appointed a new permanent manager when we let AVB go. If we told potential candidates that it was now, or never, then perhaps we could have secured a new manager.

Lastly, it looks like we're headed for 3rd or 4th choice manager at best anyway.

if i did id do exactly what Levy does and leave everything till the last minute ;)

Really don't think you can blame Levy for what's happened with LVG. The man himself was clearly holding out for a bigger club. What was Levy supposed to do? Hold a gun to Lvg's head and say 'now do you believe our trophy cabinet is bigger than Man U's'.

we decided to cut our loses with AVB mid season, for whatever reason (indecisive Levy eh??) and that left us in an awkward position - without a manager and most if not all potential replacements currently mid season with their current employers. Im sure targets were approached and they either rejected the job out of hand or said come back at the end of the season - in this instance we either keeping going further and further down the list hoping someone eventually jacks in their current job or we put in a caretaker and go back to our primary targets at the end of the season. it's pretty straight forward logic tbf

if you want to talk long term stability then id say 6 months with a caretaker whilst we wait for the right candidate to become available would easily trump appointing someone mid season because they were the only ones willing to take on the job at that point. short term 'loss' for long term gain basically

Forget Yakin. He has no experience over here. He'll be starting from scratch. Benitez is a no brainer for me. He knows the football here. Levy can't really do much worse than appoint Rafa.

Now it all comes down to who we appoint as our next manager. If it's a strong choice then I'll know that the groundwork was put in to this and I'll take a step back with my criticism of the process. If it's a lazy appointment then I'll be wondering what the dilly dallying was all about.

Benitez? Do we really want to go down that dreary road? Not a fan of win at all costs football myself; big no to Benitez from me.

I agree. Posters on here seem to have their own agenda. TS I think is a great candidate and results wise he has done a few things right. He has a few attributes that needs improving etc but other than that I think giving him another season IS NOT the worst thing in the world.

If Pochettino's experience makes him a pathetic choice, what is Sherwood?

No

My main gripe is id rather stick with someone like TS than go for someone else for the sake of going for someone else. Youre all a bunch of jokers who just wants 'anyone but Tim'. Its a joke. A bunch of emotional people who boo hoo dont like TS so lets go for anyone else - desperation. It was the same with Harry and look where that got us.
