Finney Is Back
Luka Modric
Which seems a fair comment….You said "we're happy to pay to sack managers but not to hire them."

We might be a strange bunch but I’m pretty sure Australian isn’t a race.
There hasn’t been continuity planning at this club for many years when it comes to football matters.
Which completely ignores the fact that it was clear from January that Conte was off at the end of the year. Doesn't seem to have been much planning for that.
If we get PE Teacher Potter then can we pay him a PE teacher’s salary? The last 3 permanent managers have been gambles though - two because they were 'win now' managers yet we didnt have a squad which was ready for that, and the other because he was about 14th choice and defensive.
If we aren't prepared to pay to get a Slot, de Zerbi or someone who excites, I'd have thought we'd be better playing safe rather than taking another gamble which would point me to Potter...but I dont know a thing about Ange, just feels unusual given his background

Indeed. I wish the club would stop putting all these names out therebut I really don't think having a dozen names doing the rounds for three months is going to put the next guy in a strong position
I suspect that is about the total sum of our net transfer budget this summer (assuming we make Kulusevski permanent). The issue is Slot and his staff would have cost us around £17m.
Well he certainly seems to be having a good go at putting us on that trajectory….The best pub football manager money can buy.
Maybe Levy expects us to get relegated for the next three seasons in a row so his skills will be relevant
I preferred it two years ago when Rodgers turned us down to continue at Leicester.
Why will there be better manager targets available next summer than this summer?I think De Zerbi has shown what a transformational manager can do and has also shown that Potter is quite average.
But I am open to appointing a Potter on 2 year deal and seeing how he does.
That way we can move him on next Summer when other targets are available it just means the Kane era is 100% over.
My preference is we alter our restructure plans to suit Nagelsmann and appoint him.
1 trophy.Nope haha so I can still have my own opinions based on little evidence. I base my Levy hatred on his time at the club and how we have only won two trophies which is one less than Emirates Marketing Project seem destined to win this season. It’s completely unacceptable. And Levy always says he wants to make things right and yet we have seen no evidence of this more we have seen evidence to the contrary.
There are now two options open to the club.
1. Give Poch or Nagelsmann whatever they need in terms of structure that will lead to their appointment.
2. Continue with our current restructure plans and appoint the best possible fit available from the diminishing pool on a 2 year deal with an option for a third year. We can then move this person on in 12 months if they don’t show themselves to be a Slot or De Zerbi and then appoint Slot or De Zerbi.
The other consideration is Kane likely stays in scenario 1 and leaves in scenario 2.

I don’t think he would be anywhere as much as that. Bayern are currently liable to pay him the remainder of his contract over his contract length. I’m sure Bayern would be happy for another club to take on that burden and seeing as how we don’t represent even the merest threat to their position in European football we would be a reasonable option to them to do so.Nagelsmann was €25m apparently, but yes, it’s a big cost. That said, we'd probably pay him half the salary which we were paying Conte....

Any manager at Spurs is going to demand a salary of £10m+. The expectation from the chairman in terms of results is significantly higher than the budget provided, therefore large financial compensation is the only real carrot for a manager. But it shouldn’t be seen that way when a) a manager is the most important part, and b) paying off a poor manager will end up costing a lot more in the long run. Look at how much we spent on Conte and Mourinho both of whom would likely have had significantly larger salaries than Slot would have had. And then we had both leave and I assume both had sizeable exit packages. I don’t know for Conte but I expect Mourinho did.
