Nacer Chadli

Nacer Chadli would be the top league scorer for:
Burnley Palace Everton Hull Leicester Liverpool Saudi Sportswashing Machine Stoke Sunderland Swansea West Ham

One of those pointless stats really isn't it - that's only the case if he had the rest of the Spurs team playing with him instead of what is mostly players from inferior teams...

That one stands out a bit, especially given the last few years.

Not a bad season for the lad really...

Good season, interesting to speculate if he didn't have his unfortunate family event (he was in good form at the time), when his final season numbers would look like.

Players that regularly contribute goals from non striker positions are extremely valuable.

I see midfielders a the ones in front of the defence.

MoPo wants everyone else to play up close to the opposition penalty area, effectively the old inside forwards.

The whole positional name issue is a buggers muddle

We have 2 of the best contributing midfielders in the PL w/Eriksen & Chadli, even Lamela is not bad re contribution w/10 assists & 5 goals

Our problem is more -> Front 3, Kane aside, 7 goals for the full season from two very expensive strikers (Ade & Soldado) is fudging poor, mins pre assist/goal is useless for a player(s) who don't start/sub regularly.

Difference between where we end this season and actually challenging for 4th in my opinion

- Concede less (probably 10-15 less per season) -> which probably means a better CB option & a better DM option
- higher contribution from 2nd striker, 10 goals per season minimum needed.

Neither of those is a more goals/assists from midfield issue.

Chadli deserves full credit for scoring 11 league goals from midfield. Only 2 Spurs midfielders have scored more league goals than Chadli in PL history : Bale(21 goals) in 2013 and Van Der Vaart(13 goals) in 2011. In fact, Chadli is among only 5 Spurs midfielders to have scored 10 or more league goals since 1993.

For the record, here are the Spurs midfielders to have scored 10 or more league goals during the PL era :
2015
Eriksen 10
Chadli 11

2013
Bale 21

2012
Bale 10
VDV 11

2011
VDV 13

2002
Poyet 10

I think Chadli has been the most consistent midfielder for us this season. Really thought Eriksen would score something like 15 goals based on early season form. But too bad that he lost his form after the League Cup semi final. Over the years, we have had so many big-name midfielders who failed to score enough goals like Ginola, Modric, Lennon and Kranjcar. So, it is great to have 2 midfielders who could score 10 or more goals now.

Whether you classify him as a midfielder or a forward, Chadli is one of only 2 Spurs players to chip in with a goal or assist at least every other league game this season...

Yet you still hear many whinge he doesn't do enough in games. You can't take for granted a non striker scoring that many league goals, it's crucial we have someone like him...

It's mostly because they've decided he doesn't do enough and moans for the sake of it instead of actually watching him play.

That is actually very interesting.

So am I right in thinking that two of the players combined - that were bought with a quarter of the supposedly wasted Bale money - have scored exactly the same amount of goals as him (2013/2015)?

Good business imo. :)

because he doesnt do much.. defensively he has been pathetic this year and doesnt work nearly as hard as everyone else. goals are valuable though. I just feel his position is up for grabs in the summer, someone to come in who scores goals but actually contributes elsewhere too in regards to defending etc. - Ayew would be the perfect replacement.

Yes he scores a few goals but where is this player when we are playing brick? In games where we need goals? He is ok but compared to the teams we are competing with he is not exactly a game changer.

He goes 60 minutes doing fudge all then scores then does another 20 minutes of fudge all and yet people are talking like he is the next Hazard. Lets be honest here, he scores goals which are good but its the games he hasn't scored in which people are "moaning" about.

Inthink the general consensus is that he scores goals but needs to be more involved overall - don't recall seeing anyone talk him up beyond being a useful player
