Moussa Sissoko

I think fans have to forget what players cost in todays game, the fees are stupid but there is so much money floating about that they do not really mean anything. As for Jansen i have been impressed with so far and in the first half against WBA he was excellent, the goals will come but for the time being he is a kid who has moved to a different country, a much more physical league which is played at a faster pace then he is used too.

Unfortately for him ( Lamela when he first signed, Sissoko now) some fans seem to think that the fee's paid should mean we have a star straight off, it does not work that way.

And ( with all respect to Greg) him banging on about how much we paid for Sissoko is a bit of a laugh, Saudi Sportswashing Machine over the years have thrown money about like confetti and all it has got them is yo yoing up and down the two leagues.

I agree with a great deal of what you are saying but Alli cost relatively FA and for me is the benchmark of running and intent. I would include Rose, Walker, Toby, Jan, Wanyama and Eriksen also.
But Alli is the man they 'all' need to emulate attitude and effort wise! IMHO

You have to accept there is a difference between giving a player new to the country and the league time to settle in compared to someone that has played over 100 Premier League games already.

But he is playing for a very different side

He is now playing in a high pressing high energy side going for the title. We have different expectations than Saudi Sportswashing Machine now (not aspirations)

He has the familiarity which is why I think he has settled ok. He hasn't wowed us and he hasn't been poor

They actually need to emulate the attitude of the man in the shirt in front of them!!!

The reality is for every Alli and Dier we have paid more for son or sissoko

It's a balancing act and it's why we have a great squad now and we have player like Alli that were bargains and are now worth a lot lot more

It seems there are fans who are giving the same brick to Sissoko as the did when Lamela first came here, they seem to be more concerned about his fee then anything else. Sissoko can not be blamed for how much we paid for him no more then Lamela could be for his fee.

No not the fee, just the fact that he was pretty brick for Saudi Sportswashing Machine and France and yet we still bought him.

His workrate for his in the last six games of season under Rafa Benitez was excellent, as it was in the EUROs.

Before that it was non-existent and tinkleed a lot of our fans off. Would you be inspired to work hard for Steve fudgeing McClaren the useless fudgewitt?

A lot of the attitude I think came from a club that wasn't operating as a football club - we are now. But the mouthing off in the press all the time never helped, he never really had a relationship / affinity with our fans at all. He's a very strange bloke.

This to me seems somewhat similar to what happened with Vertonghen under AVB (towards the end) and then Sherwood.

To a large extent I think it's understandable. When most fans are unhappy about what's going on at a club we can't really expect the players to be happy about it. Mouthing off in the press (Sissoko) or looking clearly unhappy on the pitch (Vertonghen) probably isn't the best strategies for a player, but they're human beings and with enough frustration we all do some things that are far from ideal.

Hopefully being at a properly run club, towards the end at Saudi Sportswashing Machine and now with us, will see a different Sissoko. To some extent he doesn't have a choice under Pochettino if he wants to stay with us.

Honestly... this is what I am worried about. I never really wanted him. As long as Pochettino wanted him though then it's ok. We should have gone for Mane.

What makes this less of a worry is that if he turns out to only be an average PL player for us that makes him expensive, but there aren't a ton of other problems. We have a lot of other options for those positions as well as Nkodou settling in and youngesters coming through the ranks.

I don't think for a second Pochettino will play him just because he's an expensive signing or make matters worse in some other way if it doesn't work out particularly well for Sissoko.

His performances seem to be a fitness issue to me and nothing else.

He played 90 mins against Sunderland was ok.
He played well up at Boro until he came out for the 2nd half and turned to brick.
He played well against Emirates Marketing Project - a vital part of that winning performance and was subbed after 72 mins.
He played well at West Brom until disappearing again in the 2nd half and was hooked.

Its not like he's having a mare in the 1st half - otherwise we wouldn't be murdering these teams (performance if not scoreline wise)!!

14 appearances for France & Spurs since Euro 2016 started.
737 minutes of football
0 goals
0 assists

Can't believe I'm reading he is gonna get suspended

How can the ref claim again he didn't see it when the camera showed him watching it and he also spoke to his Lino about it at the time

It's shocking for me if it happens as it basically means a ref can avoid big decisions as its then trial by camera

What was Harry Arter doing chasing the ball off the pitch? The ball was kicked against him and went out of play for a throw-in to Spurs. Sissoko went to get the ball and Arter chased after him/the ball as a spoiling tactic to slow the game or just to generally wind-up Sissoko. He shouldn't have been there in the first place - its his own fault he walked into Sissoko's elbow.

Or chasing after the ref looking for a red card if he thinks it was nothing.

Ah the old "He impaled himself with my sword routine", are you serious?!
